Civil Construction Estimator

We are looking for an experienced, dedicated, and enthusiastic Civil Construction Estimator to join our team in Pittsburgh PA! The Civil Construction Estimator is responsible for estimating, proposal development and management for heavy highway and bridge construction projects, and assembling complete bid packages and proposals to efficiently, successfully, and profitably obtain and complete assigned construction projects.

A typical project looks like:

• Reading, understanding and interpreting drawings and specifications
• Soliciting quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, estimate to be 95% complete prior to formal review with Chief Estimator
• Preparing a rough schedule of project for determining the time frame
• Preparing competitive job estimates by interpreting drawings and bid documents and performing takeoffs for labor, equipment, and materials
• Reviewing estimated productions with superintendents to finalize the bid
• Other duties as assigned per project

Do you have what it takes?

• High School Diploma, or equivalent
• Experience in bridge and/or heavy highway construction estimating i.e. bridges, culverts road reconstruction, retaining walls, site work, underground utilities, excavation and earth moving
• PennDOT and/or ODOT experience preferred
• A record of successfully estimating bridge/heavy civil construction projects.
• Have a working knowledge of means and methods, crew composition, and production rates for concrete and steel bridge construction is preferred.
• Proficiency in estimating software system
• High energy, able to sustain occasional long hours
