  • Responsibilities

    Job Description :

    The Controller will be a strategic thought-partner, and report to the CFO. The successful candidate will be hands-on and participative, and will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas: finance, business planning and budgeting, human resources, administration, and IT.

    Responsibilities :

    1. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.

    2. Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.

    3. Regularly produce financial reports and statements.

    4. Coordinate all audit activities.

    5. Evaluate and oversee all benefits negotiations.

    6. Manage cash flow and forecasting; direct all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting.

    7. Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors; assess any changes necessary.

    8. Coordinate and lead the annual tax preparation and filing process, liaise with external tax preparation team; assess any changes necessary.

    9. Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep executive leadership team abreast of the organization's financial status.

    10. Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department's overall policy and procedure manual.

    11. Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the executive leadership team.

    Qualifications :

    1. Minimum of a BA, ideally with an MBA/CPA or related degree

    2. At least 7-10 years of overall professional experience; ideally 6+ years of broad financial and accounting management experience

    3. The ideal candidate has experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination for either a division or significant program area

    4. Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with – operations and mining colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds

    5. Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software

    6. Commitment to training programs that maximize individual and organization goals across the organization

    7. A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making

    8. Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

    9. A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment

    10. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of the organization.

    Preferred Skills :

    1. Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.

    2. Significant experience in or knowledge of mining or construction accounting, including compliance and cost reporting.

    3. Experience with Sage Intacct is preferred
