    Job Description

     

    TURNER & TOWNSEND is seeking an experienced CIVIL CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR to provide estimates and cost consulting and meet client objectives through the delivery of an effective cost management service for our key technology client.

     

    The ideal candidate is an experienced construction professional who specializes in estimating heavy civil and utilities projects which includes estimating Deep Foundations (Piles, drilled shafts, caissons), Soil Improvements, Site Improvements, Significant Wet & Dry (Water & Gas Pipelines, Electrical & Telecom Ductbanks), SWPPP, reviewing Geotechnical Reports, Overhead Power Lines, and Roads for Data Center or relatable construction projects.

     

    • Developing cost plans and estimates from concept through detailed design.
    • Supporting Client land acquisitions and site preparation work.
    • Liaising with the Client’s general contractors & reviewing their cost submissions
    • Undertaking cost reviews as part of RFPs.
    • Working with the architect’s masterplan designs & clarifying scope.
    • Delivering and presenting updated cost plans at appropriate design milestones.
    • Reviewing proposed design changes/new technologies and prepare estimates within appropriate accuracy levels.
    • Understanding design stages and estimate levels.
    • Providing commercial input to design optioneering and input into value engineering exercises.
    • Preparing cash commit forecasts for the construction life cycle.
    • Working collaboratively with stakeholders in the preparation of estimates/ cost plans.
    • Analyzing labor markets and cost drivers such as Unions & Tax.
    • Supporting our Client’s with monthly presentations.
    • Delivering Life Cycle Costing models.
    • Benchmarking integration to ensure accurate data capture.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

     

    • Strong technical experience estimating all phases of construction projects; pre-contract, post contract and final account.
    • Specific experience of estimating significant utilities (Wet & Dry) and deep foundations / soil improvements (not just standard earthwork activities);
    • Experience of working with different types of foundations, hazardous materials and geotechnical reports
    • Understands historical production rates, local labor rates, crew sizes, and site setup (mobilization, site incidentals, site overhead, trucking logistics, etc)
    • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects or heavy civils projects is preferred
    • Demonstrate solid presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, G Suite AutoCad Navisworks, and/or other related computer software.
    • Good organization skills, ability to multi-task, and be a team player.
    • Experience with advising clients on value management, value engineering
    • College degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience estimating large-scale construction projects.
    • US experience is strongly desirable.
