  • Responsibilities

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Schedule the daily activities of the department in order to meet customer demands while providing a safe environment for employees.
    • Schedules and coordinates all activities within the department.
    • Recommends die modifications.
    • Ensures quality standards are met and maintained by continually communicating with the Quality and Production departments.
    • Participates in ongoing Continuous Improvement processes.
    • Ensures requisition orders required for tooling and replacement parts are completed in a timely manner.
    • Keeps current on all new processes.
    • Visits customer locations to view site and use of parts and provides recommendations on processes if appropriate.
    • Implements any engineering changes based on customer requirements accurately and efficiently.
    • Provides required training to employees for job-specific activities/responsibilities.
    • Establishes and maintains an effective preventative maintenance program. Ensures all tools are properly fit for use.
    • Provides coaching and counseling to direct reports and conducts timely performance appraisals, as required, for both salary and hourly employees.
    • Any other reasonable request made by management.

    Required Qualifications:

    • A minimum of 5 years on-the-job experience
    • Previous supervisory experience an asset
    • Ability to work with Statistical Process Controls
    • Strong knowledge of TS16949 and ISO14001 requirements
    • Familiar with Occupational Health & Safety Act and company policies and procedures
    • Skills (language, technical, computer etc.)
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • Ability to prioritize work in order to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
    • Basic computer skills e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
    • Strong people-management skills to lead, direct and coach employees
    • Mathematical and mechanical aptitude
