    Turning Point Search is seeking a Director of Materials, Planning and Logistics for direct hire into our client in Troy, MI. Client is a global, Tier One full-service supplier whose specialties are metal stamping, modular weld assemblies, BIW structures and components. The role will involve 60% travel to manufacturing plant locations in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

    Director of Materials, Planning and Logistics

    Description:

    • Cost improvement (CI) activities in all relevant areas
    • Selection of freight companies and service providers
    • Cooperation with purchase department in developing a competitive supply base
    • Realization of global or regional projects, while adhering to cost and timing objectives
    • Define and deploy regional standards and processes throughout NA
    • Cooperation with EA Director Logistcs in implementing of company global MP&L organizational structure and standard processes at the plants
    • Represent company in front of customers
    • Establish best practices within NA and leverage across all Canada, USA and Mexico
    • Support plants to achieve budgeted KPIs (e.g. stocks, freight, headcount …)
    • Support plants in creating annual capex budgets
    • Guidance, development, and training of disciplinary and functionally supervised employees according to valid organization chart
    • Conduct EDP talks with supervised employees and support other leaders for functional supervised employees
    • Provide on regular base meaningful reports to ensure transparency and efficiency of logistics activities
    • Disciplinary lead of corporate MP&L team members
    • Disciplinary lead of regional SAP key user
    • Functional lead of all MP&L managers at the plants
    • Supervision of NA Foreign Trade Compliance Specialist

    Qualifications:

    Professional experience >15 years
    Leadership experience > 7 years
    Experience in working in (global) matrix organization > 5 years

    Professional Experience Required:
    • Automotive, freight forwarding or raw material processing business
    • Working with ERP systems, especially SAP R3
    • Material management and production planning
    • Supply chain management in multi-site organization
    • Intercompany freight and packaging optimization
    • Know how of NAFTA customs compliance requirements
    • Solid SAP R3 know how
    • Excellent communication skills on all internal levels and to customers
    • Strong personal skills to lead, coach, motivate and deal with conflicts
    • Efficient use of time and good project management skills
    Education
    • College or university degree in Logistics, Materials Management or Engineering
    Lean
    • Understanding and use of relevant internal Lean methods and tools in all processes, and adherence to applicable lean standards.
    • Understanding and use of the applicable Shop floor and Office Management pillars and standards, and active participation in all applicable Shop floor and Office Management meetings and activities.
    • Understanding and use of the corporate behaviors in the daily relationship with other colleagues, customers and suppliers.
    • Understanding, support and participation in all tasks, trainings and development topics that will drive the organization towards Lean Excellence.
