  • Responsibilities
    • Participate in the development of programs/policies/procedures that contribute to organizational development, and employee satisfaction while maximizing efficiencies and profitability and maintaining a balance between employee/employer needs.
    • Reviews and consults on management practices to ensure fair and consistent treatment of employees and that company is in compliance with all relevant legislation and company's policies and procedures.
    • Researches and benchmarks other organizations to gather relevant data to establish best practices within the organization, i.e. Shift premiums.
    • Assists in creating an environment where there is respect and dignity in the workplace for all employees by providing management with the necessary tools that will assist them in dealing with managing people (i.e. external seminars, internal training workshops).
    • Attends management meetings to field questions regarding H.R. matters and provides updates (i.e. number of resignations, terminations, etc.).
    • Conducts employee focus groups to solicit feedback on particular issues and/or concerns and compiles report and/or analysis with recommendations to management.
    • Produces and develops reports on workforce demographics that help to understand company's culture and provides recommendations as to how it can be improved.
    • Ensures all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and efficiently to complete recruitment process at local facility.
    • Conducts exit interviews with employees who voluntarily leave the organization and compiles a bi-annual summary report on results.
    • Reviews current performance appraisal process and makes recommendations on enhancements.
    • Revises and maintains an updated benefits, policies and procedures manual.
    • Develops and implements a compensation plan to include bonuses, incentives, reward and recognition.
    • Oversees the disciplinary function to ensure equitable and consistent applications.
    • Any other reasonable request made by management.

    Required Skills:

    • Must have 3+ years of experience as a Human Resources Lead or Manager
    • Sound knowledge of the Charter of Human Rights, Employment Standards Act, Ontario Labour Code and Health & Safety Act
    • Must have prior experience working in HR in a manufacturing plant or facility
    • Understanding of the Automotive/manufacturing industry
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Adaptive and resourceful in order to meet employee needs
    • Effective problem solving and decision making skills
    • Ability to negotiate, sell and persuade
    • University Degree or College Diploma. Major in Human Resources highly preferred.
