    SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensure the company suppliers are capable of reliably providing quality (conformity to requirements and specifications) products and services while continuously improving in quality, cost, and service/delivery (total cost of ownership)
    • Supplier Quality Program Management and Supplier process improvement
    • Review and approve supplier manufacturing corrective actions and process controls, gauging methods, PPAP submissions and resolve quality issues when escalated from plants
    • Work with plant QA & Engineering to identify Critical/Pass Thru Characteristics on supplier parts
    • Responsible for ensuring suppliers put required process controls on critical and pass through characteristics on parts/material supplied by them
    • Ensure suppliers PFMEA & Control Plans are robust to produce parts defect free
    • Conducts periodic supplier audits as per Audit Frequency clearly demonstrating identification of gaps in suppliers’ process and gap closure plan implementation on time
    • Provide timely, detailed and well-documented data and analysis regarding supplier investigations and assist the supplier in determining root causes and monitor all corrective actions
    • Generate and maintain supplier performance metrics and evaluate supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain. Communicate Supplier Performance to respective suppliers and work with them to improve performance scores as per TS guidelines
    • Regularly communicate with Engineering and Program Management internally to identify opportunities for quality and productivity improvement.
    • Participate in quality meetings on plant level and present purchased part quality issues resolution plan
    • Communicate and instruct suppliers on the use of a corrective action process and quality problem resolution tools & techniques. Participate in supplier’s root cause & permanent corrective action process
    • Supplier Risk Management – Perform pre-defined systems and process audits per recognized standards and Audit schedule. Use the results of these audits to approve and rate the suppliers to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
    • Identify repeat quality issues by supplier, work actions to fix them and maintain supplier quality scorecard.
    • Recommend suppliers for qualification and / or disqualification based upon quality performance and audit results for sourcing decisions and for putting them on NBH/resourcing list when needed
    • Contributes to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize and support) are supported and adhered to.
    • Ensures he/she is in full compliance with the laws of respective province, state, or countries, while representing company or during the use of any company provided equipment.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 5+ years of manufacturing process engineering experience in automotive Fastener, Stamping, Tubing and/or Extrusion company is a must
    • Strong mfg. process knowledge of fasteners, tubes, extrusions, stampings and raw material
    • Profound knowledge and application experience of quality tools in automotive 8D, PFMEA, FMEA, 6 Sigma or Lean, PPAP, APQP, Control Plan Formation and others
    • Strong problem solving techniques and facilitate problems solving team events
    • Working knowledge of quality tools, ERP systems and MS Applications
    • Ability to relate to colleagues at all levels
    • Good understanding of IATF 16949 and ISO14001 requirements

    EDUCATION:

    • University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering is a must
