Engineering Manager
Automotive Metal Stamping, Welding, and Assembly
Responsibilities:
- Position manages, controls, and implements all day to day plant engineering functions. Also responsible for the establishment and standardization of methods, material, equipment, while providing technical expertise in engineering processes
- Working environment will include a mix of both plant floor and office /desk.
- This is a hands-on position where the Engineering Manager will be working alongside team.
- Minimal travel as required.
- Controls all project/engineering activities for new business and engineering changes or existing products.
- Establishes labor and methods standards for all processes in plant.
- Coordinates activities of engineers to ensure adherence to timelines.
- Ensures all proper documentation and standard engineering processes are followed.
- Ensures engineering is pro-active and responsive to the needs of plant production lines.
- Works to minimize and maintain engineering costs and plant.
- Interfaces with customers to communicate problems and solutions while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Manages special projects as requested by plant manager.
- Assess, train and develop subordinates. Will work with HR to assess manpower needs within engineering and adjusts as needed
- Will lead cost estimation and quoting efforts in response to customer RFP requests.
- Responsible for related safety requirements.
- May be called upon to assist in other duties as needed to ensure quality level of facility activities.
- Responsible for accountability to effectively interface with all disciplines such as quality, finance, human resources, maintenance, production and materials to produce the best quality products for the least cost.
- Will have the authority to stop production and correct quality problems as necessary. This shall include organization freedom to: initiate corrective action; identify and record any problems or concerns affecting product, process or quality; report unsafe work situations to appropriate supervisor; and inputs recommendations for disposition. Authority to present the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing TS 16949/ISO-14001, IATF requirements (e.g. selection of special characteristics, setting quality objective, training corrective and preventative actions, product design and development).
Qualifications:
- Must have 10+ years of experience working in the automotive metal stamping industry in a plant / facility environment.
- Must have 4+ of supervisory experience overseeing small team sizes of mechanical engineers, cost estimators, etc.
- Recent experience quoting and responding to RFPs RFQs
- Must have recent experience as outlined in above responsibilities.
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or other related discipline.
