    POSITION TITLE: Special Projects Internship EMPLOYMENT: Part-time TRAVEL: 5% LOCATION: Phoenix, AZ, Non-remote START DATE: ASAP

    Turning Point USA is a 501(c)(3) grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to educating students about the importance of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and limited government. With a presence on over 3,000 college campuses in all fifty states, Turning Point USA is one of the largest youth organizations in the country. Our primary focus is to identify, educate, train, and empower student activists to stand up for their values on all high school and college campuses.

    ABOUT THE POSITION: The Special Projects Intern is responsible for assisting the Advancement Special Projects team in completing day-to-day tasks critical to the functioning and success of TPUSA's watchlists. Such tasks may include but are not limited to: research, data entry, proof-reading/editing, website updating, and social platform marketing. Attention to detail is a must. There will be a high level of exposure to Advancement and donor-related information, and therefore this position requires a high level of professionalism and absolute confidence at all times. The ideal candidate must fit the company and department culture, embodying the following traits: grassroots humility, warrior spirit, and persistent innovation.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

    • Conducting in-depth research on school boards nationwide;
    • Crafting written reports and profiles on school board members, representatives, and other key personnel; 
    • Responding to inquiries submitted on the School Board Liberty Project website; 
    • Managing professional relationships with key School Board Liberty Project stakeholders;
    • Organizing and maintaining the School Board Liberty Project backend database;
    • Updating the School Board Liberty Project website;
    • Improving data systems and processes to create enhanced school board profiles; 
    • Working with the Director of Special Projects to create and execute development strategies to grow the School Board Liberty Project and associated projects; 
    • Collaborating with the TPUSA Media team to increase public awareness of the School Board Liberty Project and associated projects by utilizing social media, email, and digital marketing; and,
    • Assisting the Director of Special Projects in advancing the School Board Liberty Project donor communications strategy.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • 1-3 years of administrative or research experience.
    • Have working knowledge of Google Drive.
    • Have close personal alignment with the mission and principles of TPUSA.
    • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
    • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills needed to form working relationships with fellow colleagues.
    • Be organized, a self-starter, and goal-oriented.
    • Have competency in managing deadlines, multiple projects, and competing priorities.
    • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Reflect a strong work ethic and desire for excellence.

    “WOW!” SKILLS

    • Prior involvement with Turning Point USA;
    • Prior use of SalesForce or other relevant custom relationship management (CRM) programs.
    • Prior use of Adobe Creative Suite or other relevant design programs.
    • Prior use of Canva or other relevant basic design platforms.
    • Experience working with the media. 
    • Experience in marketing, strategic initiatives, project management.
    • Experience using WordPress or other relevant website and content management systems.
