Job Description

Turnitin is seeking an entrepreneurial, hands-on VP of Finance, reporting to the CFO, who will play an instrumental role in the future growth and positioning of the company. As a trusted advisor to senior management, the VP of Finance will play an active role in critical business processes such as resource allocation, M&A, performance measurement and management, building scalable processes and infrastructure, and leading a world-class team.  The ideal candidate will be an operationally-oriented leader with a strategic business sense who has ideally worked for high-growth technology companies.

In addition, we expect the ideal candidate will employ sound business principles, analytical ability, and high integrity. Responsibilities will encompass global metrics reporting, budgeting and forecasting, strategic planning, investment analysis, annual audit and compliance activities, sales order processing and treasury/cash management.  Supporting the candidate will be a high-functioning accounting organization as well as a 2-person FP&A team.

• Build and leverage relationships across the company to ensure that all functions receive operational information and active decision support

• Anticipate and proactively manage financial events and challenges

• Advise on financial aspects of strategic business initiatives such as major investments, enterprise performance, strategic alliances, new markets and products, and business unit key initiatives

• Pro-actively highlight opportunities for financial and business process improvements - taking into consideration strategic and financial impact

• Play a key role in the governance and utilization of company data

WORK WITH A PASSIONATE TEAM:

• Meeting regularly with key partners in the business, maintaining strong executive relationships and understanding their strategic goals and objectives and to share insights and recommendations

• Manage, develop and grow a cross functional team

Qualifications

• Strong leader who is committed to our mission

• Ability to work effectively with global, cross functional team

• Has a bachelor’s degree or related work experience; advanced degree is a plus

• Has 10+ years of experience in Finance

• Strong project management skills, high detail orientation and exceptional organizational skills

• Thrives in a multitasking environment, with an ability to adjust priorities

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

• SaaS/Subscription SW experience; good understanding of SaaS business metrics and models

• Strategic thinking

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross functional teams to determine strategy.

• Can offer proactive solutions and ensure successful progression without guidance when necessary

• Is willing to manage a distributed team in multiple time zones

• Some travel required (~ 10%)
