    Are you interested in a position that supports the federal Judiciary's mission of ensuring equal justice under the law?  This is an excellent opportunity for a college graduate considering a career in public service and/or the legal field.  The Calendar Unit, U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, is seeking a talented Assistant Calendar Clerk to join our team.

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

    • This position is located in the Clerk's Office and reports to the Operations Supervisor. The Calendar Unit is responsible for setting the Court's hearing schedule and for providing judges with necessary case materials.
    • Data entry and analysis, responding to requests from judges and attorneys, sending notices to attorneys, reviewing case materials for potential recusal issues and calendaring priorities, shipment of case materials and other duties as assigned.
    • The successful candidate will have a steady, professional demeanor, a keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and enjoy working within a diverse team environment.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS    

    Qualifications for CL 23:  Two years of progressively responsible legal or federal work experience in the above representative duties and:

    • General knowledge of court procedures, practices, and the Ninth Circuit; proficiency with email, window applications and Adobe Acrobat; ability to work independently or in a team environment; demonstrated, proactive, problem-solving approach; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong customer service ethic; and ability to understand and apply established rules and procedures.
    • Bachelor's degree preferred.

    Qualifications for CL 24:  All qualifications for CL 23, plus: 

    • One year of specialized experience equivalent to work at CL 23.

    Salary*: Depending on qualifications and experience, $42,627 to $76,733 (CL 23 – CL 24)
