    This position is located in the Clerk's Office of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  The incumbent will perform administrative functions related to the “Criminal Justice Act” (CJA) and associated financial tasks.

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

    • Audit attorney payments (“vouchers”) for completeness and compliance with both national and local CJA regulations and guidelines.
    • Promptly return any vouchers and funding requests containing errors to panel attorneys and service providers along with clear instructions for corrections.
    • The incumbent will utilize eVoucher to create appointments and representations and maintain attorney and vendor profiles.
    • The incumbent will promptly respond to phone and email inquiries regarding eVoucher and related CJA billing policies and procedures including overseeing the eVoucher help desk.
    • Reconcile government travel authorizations and payments. 
    • The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, have excellent communications skills, and work independently.
    • This position reports to the CJA Administrative Attorney in the San Francisco Clerk's Office.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS    

    High School graduation or equivalent, plus two years of general work experience in the above representative duties and:

    • Working knowledge of Windows-based and browser-based applications; proficiency and experience with email, word processing applications, Adobe Acrobat and Excel.
    • Ability to work independently or in a team environment; demonstrated, proactive, problem-solving approach and critical thinking skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong customer service ethic; ability to understand and apply established rules and procedures; flexibility, strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS   

    • Bachelor's degree preferred
    • Prior legal experience, knowledge of attorney billing practices
    • Experience with eVoucher payment system

    Salary: Depending on qualifications, experience and duty station: $43,962 to $87,421 (CL 23 – CL 25)
