    ABOUT THE OFFICE

    The Office of the Circuit Executive (OCE) serves the 9th Judicial Circuit of United States. It is the largest federal circuit in the country, comprising nine western states and two territories. The Office serves the Court of Appeals as well as the District Courts, Bankruptcy Courts, Probation and Pretrial Offices, and Federal Public Defenders.

    The OCE is committed to providing professional support to the judicial council and courts of the Ninth Circuit and ensuring the highest level of public trust in the administration of justice. This support includes identifying needs, conducting studies, proactively developing and implementing innovative policies, providing training, public information and human resources support, coordinating building and IT projects, and advising the council on procedural and ethical matters.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    We're looking for a solutions-oriented professional who enjoys collaborating with other IT staff throughout the Federal Judiciary. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about finding creative solutions to solve common business practices and increase efficiency and is excited to share that passion throughout the circuit. The Solutions Architect will collaborate with stakeholders within the Office of Circuit Executive (OCE), as well as court units throughout the ninth circuit.

     REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

    • Lead the design, development, and deployment of SharePoint solutions to replace legacy applications at the OCE
    • Identify locally developed solutions within the courts and support the expansion of that solution to other units within the ninth circuit (or nationally, as appropriate)
    • Serve as a subject matter expert for the OCE on assigned solutions or products
    • Provide support to and coordinate with regional or national development groups within the Judiciary
    • Analyze current technologies used within the Federal Judiciary and make recommendations for improvement
    • Collaborate closely between stakeholders within the ninth circuit and the Administrative Office (AO) on any nationally deployed solution or product, development standard, or other appropriate topic

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • At least three years of specialized experience (Substitute experience with an associate degree in an accredited university)
    • Strong knowledge in SharePoint site design, administration, integration, and management
    • Strong knowledge of computer systems and networks
    • Ability to develop and interpret standards, policies, and procedures and analyze systems and procedures, write and review standards and procedures, and handle multiple projects
    • Superior writing, speaking, listening, and presentation skills
    • Advanced ability to think critically and strategically, and to develop and implement innovative solutions
    • Demonstrated capacity to see the big picture and master the details, while deftly navigating between the two
    • Exceptional emotional intelligence and track record of building strong relationships

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar field.
    • Experience working in the federal judiciary and its nationally supported applications
    • Experience with Drupal web content management system

    POSITION DETAILS

    Location: While priority will be given to applicants who reside within the Ninth Circuit, candidates who reside anywhere within the United States are welcome to apply. Occasional travel to courts throughout the circuit, the Circuit Executive's Office in San Francisco, as well as to AO offices will be required.

    Reports to: Assistant Circuit Executive for Information Technology

    Collaborates with: Court executives and managers, IT professionals, Judicial officers, vendors

    Serves: The entire ninth circuit, including judges and chambers staff, as well as professional, administrative, and technology staff. As needed, collaborates with other circuits throughout the judiciary.

    TOTAL REWARDS AND WORK-LIFE BALANCE

    Salary*: Depending on qualifications and experience, $75,615 to $122,884 (CL 28 – San Francisco Area Locality Pay). Please refer to the Court Personnel System Pay Rates for specific locality rates.

    Time off: 13 days of paid vacation for the first three years, increasing with tenure thereafter, 13 sick days accrued per year, 11 paid holidays.
