    ASSISTANT COACH, ESPORTS

     

    CLASSIFICATION: Career Plan Gold, Contracted Limited Term, Part-time

    COMPENSATION: $4,500 Annually

    Salary is for the 2019-20 fiscal year, prorated based on hire date

    JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting the head coach, eSports. Position assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    1. Assist the head coach with overall team management, including but not limited to: recruitment of student athletes, coordination of team practices, monitoring academic progress of athletes and preparing the team for competition.
    2. Represent SC4 in a professional/positive manner on campus, in the community, and at sponsored events/contests.
    3. Assist the head coach with budgetary oversight, through the Director of Athletics, to comply with Business Office requirements for documentation and control, as well as sound accounting practices.
    4. Responsible for behavior and well-being of student athletes while on school-sponsored trips.
    5. Work collaboratively with the head coach to maintain compliance with NJCAA by-laws and eligibility rules.
    6. Act as a promotional agent for the college and team, in collaboration with the Director of Athletics, to get local, state and national recognition.
    7. Assist the head coach with tracking academic progress and retention of student athletes.
    8. Attend meetings as required by the Director of Athletics and/or Vice President of Student Services.
    9. Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree in a computer science related field and/or previous demonstrated eSports experience is required. Applicant must have experience with budget oversight, student activities and a willingness to work with students in a service capacity required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Must possess strong oral and written communication and motivational skills and be able to work as a team member with the college community, to include students, staff, faculty, administration and other Athletic Teams on campus.

     

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED: This position is directly supervised by the Head Coach.

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications

     

    • Possess and maintain Class A or B CDL
    • Must have Passenger and Air Brake endorsements
    • Must be a careful, patient, non-aggressive driver with an excellent driving record
    • Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug test, and back screen per DOT regulations as required
    • Ability to load and unload luggage, to 80 pounds
    • Clean driving record and insurable by the Company insurance carrier
    • Criminal records will be reviewed closely
    • Capable of regulating off duty time to get proper rest when sitting for prolonged periods of time in between scheduled stops
    • Skilled with maneuvering a coach in tight places without any incidents or damage
    • Adept defensive driving techniques
    • Ability to be on time for all assignments
    • Exceptional customer service and ability to act in a courteous and professional manner at all times, regardless of the circumstances
    • Ability to maintain a professional appearance
    • Proficient with reading maps and GPS, searching for locations and/or directions on-line when necessary, and correctly following directions
    • Computer literate and able to learn and efficiently use different software programs to include electronic logs, and automatic on board recording devices
    • Speak, read and write English fluently
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to work under pressure with strict timelines
    • Knowledge and practical use of US Department of Transportation regulations pertaining to driving commercial vehicles.
