    CAMPUS PATROL CADET

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-Time

    CLASSIFICATION: Career Plan, Limited Term, Contracted, Semester Contract

    HOURLY WAGE: $10.00 per hour

    FLSA STATUS: Hourly/Non-exempt

    HOURS:  Up to 24 hours per week. Variable shifts and hours including nights and weekends required.

    JOB SUMMARY: Cadets will perform tasks to assist permanent campus patrol staff. They perform patrols of the campus. They will assist staff/faculty/students and visitors on campus.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist with patrol of assigned area to observe and report building security and conduct of people.
    • Assist with examination of doors, windows, and gates to ensure security; monitor closed buildings for unauthorized persons and/or suspicious activities.
    • Bring any situation of significance to the attention of a Campus Patrol Officer.
    • Assist with symptom screening duties.
    • Assist with opening and closing of interior doors as directed by dispatch.
    • Assist with maintenance of umbrellas and flag as directed.
    • Assist with periodic checks of first aid kits, AEDs, fire extinguishers, emergency call boxes and outdoor lights as directed.
    • Assist with collection and logging lost and found items.
    • Assist with courier services as directed.
    • Assist with providing routine information for visitors, students, staff, and faculty, as necessary.
    • Assist with maintenance and distribution/hanging of posters and bulletin boards across campus.
    • Serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
    • Maintain security controls for temporarily issued college keys; safeguard and control issued college equipment.
    • Maintain a “Customer Service First” attitude at all times. Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude and demeanor; effectively represent and act as an ambassador for the College to faculty, staff, students and visitors.
    • Maintain a neat appearance.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Campus Patrol Manager.

     

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Enrolled in Criminal Justice program preferred. Must be an active student at St. Clair County Community College. Must have a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Reliable with good attendance record.
    • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidential information
    • Ability to interact in a courteous manner with the general public

  • Qualifications

    The selected candidate must be an outgoing, intellectually curious self-starter who keeps abreast of current events, engages our attorneys in conversations about their work, and puts the two together to identify and create pitches that resonate with reporters and editors. Working knowledge of business markets, an ability to translate complex subject matter into plain English, and an inquisitive nature are important. A background in print journalism is preferred, as is law firm experience.
