    LEGAL EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM (LEOP)

    CLASSIFICATION: Level 1 / Class 1615 / Part Time (0.5 FTE) / Non-Exempt / Benefited / Represented

    HIRING SALARY RANGE: $20 – $26 / hour

    THE DEPARTMENT

    UC Hastings created the Legal Education Opportunity Program (LEOP) in 1969 to make an outstanding legal education accessible to those who come from disadvantaged educational, economic, social, or physical backgrounds.     THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    LEOP seeks an administrative assistant to support the work of our department. The incumbent will provide administrative support to the Director and Associate Director to ensure smooth operations of the office.

    Typical duties and responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Provide critical administrative support to the department staff as needed, including supporting core activities, coordinating meetings and events, managing staff calendars/schedules, supporting committee work, and performing clerical tasks;
    • Answer and screen incoming calls and serve as the first point of contact for visitors to the office;
    • Respond to general inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and regulations associated with the College and LEOP;
    • Schedule, coordinate, and assist with LEOP orientation, the LEOP 3L Celebration, academic programming, and other events (including occasional night and weekend events), and serve as point of contact for other departments such as facilities and IT;
    • Manage office systems and procedures;
    • Maintain and organize office supplies;
    • Provide support for budget-related tasks and projects;
    • Assist with the onboarding of student workers;
    • Serve as liaison to other departments including Enrollment Management, the Registrar's Office, and Student Services;
    • Perform related duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • High school and some administrative work experience required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • Demonstrated organization skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines;

    • Strong interpersonal communication skills;

    • Tech-savvy with working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);

    • Strong work ethic and attention to detail;

    • Ability to take initiative, prioritize with minimal supervision and work independently, as well as being able to contribute as a member of a team;
