    INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

    CLASSIFICATION: Level 3 / Class Code 2997 / Full-Time / Non-Exempt / Benefited / Represented

    HIRING SALARY RANGE: $29.24 – $31.25 hourly (commensurate with qualifications) 

    THE ROLE

    The Database Administrator is an essential part of the Information Technology team and is responsible for supporting the College's Student Information and Financial System. The individual in this position provides end-user support for Ellucian Colleague, as well as writing and maintaining programs in various operating environments to supplement administrative software. Additional responsibilities include writing, modifying, and generating reports in Excel and other formats, developing tools and data files to interface with third party applications, and utilizing UniData and SQL databases. This position interfaces with users to provide solutions that involve researching and solving complex technical issues.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities include all tasks necessary to support the College's student and financial system information needs, especially pertaining to Ellucian Colleague, including but not limited to:

    • Generating reports;
    • Functioning as a member of the development team in departmental application testing and implementation, taking initiative and responsibility when required;
    • Designing, writing and testing programs for administrative and academic departments that use Colleague and associated applications;
    • Modifying existing programs and procedures, applying vendor-supplied upgrades/modifications; providing guidance and assistance to user community during implementation of new processes;
    • Analyzing user application/programming requests and developing/recommending solutions and time estimates;
    • Troubleshooting administrative software technical issues;
    • Assisting in the development interfaces to integrate Colleague with third party software applications;
    • Assisting end-users with the appropriate use of Colleague and associated applications;
    • Recommending changes/enhancements that improve program performance and/or application processing; and
    • Assisting and advising users in report generation, including writing data queries for accreditation reports and other purposes.

    REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree, professional programming and database management experience is desired; or minimum 18 months of professional programming experience utilizing relational databases in a customer service environment will be considered in lieu of a degree.
    • Experience with Ellucian Colleague, UniData, and relational databases is highly desirable.
    • Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector is desirable.
