POSITION SUMMARY: The Office of Pupil Transportation is dedicated to providing the students of New York City with safe, clean transportation.  OPT is charged with administering all operational and administrative functions throughout the office. With an overall budget of $1.19 billion, the Office of Pupil Transportation provides the students of New York City with safe, clean transportation. 

The Quality Assurance Specialist Trainee will be trained to inspect the quality of transportation services we provide to the students of New York City.  Performs related work.

REPORTS TO:  Associate Quality Assurance Specialist

DIRECT REPORTS: N/A

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:  Relationships will be fostered with other Education Analysts, managers, and staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Under close supervision, receives training in and performs entry-level quality assurance work to determine the acceptability of services by ensuring that contract specifications, terms, conditions, and related regulations are fulfilled.
• Trains in the inspection of the quality and condition of pupil transportation services to non-public and public school children of the City of New York.
• Trains in inspecting and reporting on public school bus violations.
• Trains in the performance of routing of buses.
• Performs beginning quality assurance work.
• Participates in various transportation projects as required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM

A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.

PREFERRED

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Flexibility in managing competing tasks, working independently and as a part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
• Internal candidates preferred.

SALARY: $29,875+

(Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not make less than their current salary.)
