PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position is responsible for overseeing and inspecting inbound/outbound fruit products, including packaging, and ensuring compliance with company’s food safety and quality requirements.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Responsible for inspecting all incoming fruit and packaging materials.
- Responsible for entering and updating findings into the inspection system.
- Ensure all materials and carrier trailers meet company quality and food safety standards.
- Communicate quality issues to upper management, operations and production.
- Issue and distribute quality reports.
- Verify all documentation submitted.
- Coordinate USDA inspections.
- Perform routine quality and condition inspections on existing inventory to assist in first-in, first-out (FIFO) or worst-in, first-out (WIFO) stock rotation.
- Maintain instruments and supplies as needed to meet quality inspection requirements to ensure that company standards are met.
- Assist in data collection for experimental trial evaluations.
- Responsible for daily sanitation of work area.
MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, from an accredited institution.
- At least 1 to 2 years prior experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook).
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (i.e. oral and written).
PREFERRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL:
- Experience in the produce industry.
- Bi-lingual: English and Spanish.
