    RESEARCH ASSISTANT/TECHNICIAN 

    PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION:  

    We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the research team of Dr. Saurabh Agarwal, as a Research Assistant or Technician in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. John’s University, New York. This position is available immediately and focuses on research projects employing in vitro cellular models and molecular biology techniques to investigate therapeutic efficacy and mechanisms of action of drugs in reducing neuroblastoma cancer growth. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in research projects, study design, training, performing experiments, analyzing data, and in preparing reports, review, and manuscripts for publications.  

     

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    A bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or above in any stream of biological sciences with at least one year of relevant experience. The successful candidate must have demonstrated training and experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques such as cytotoxicity assays, flow cytometer-based apoptosis and cell cycle assays, Western blotting, RT-qPCR, and immunofluorescence staining. Candidates with experience in handling mice as animal model will be preferred. Excellent interpersonal, writing, and oral communication skills are required.

  • Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in discipline related to functional work or role with 3-5 years of relevant work experience OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.

    Ability to communicate and interact with a variety of internal/external customers and/or co-workers at level of detail required to resolve issues of moderate complexity. 

    Ability to apply strong functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows, MAC, or other company specific programs and systems. May require knowledge of or ability to quickly learn specialized software to complete work assignments.

    Strong communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand. 

    Ability to proactively listen to others to understand issues and situations. Must be able to clearly articulate business needs to both internal and external customers.
