    IT INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGIST 

     

    The Instructional Technology Specialist (or Instructional Technologist) will: develop training and support materials, provide consultation, troubleshoot, manage service requests all related to the support of instructional technology service delivered either on-premise or via a cloud-service provider. Instructional technology services are defined as technologies used in- or out- of the classroom environment with the intention to support teaching and learning. Examples of supported technologies are (but not limited to): Blackboard, WebEx, Office365, Panopto, Prezi, PollEverywhere, and VoiceThread. In addition to these technologies, technologies deployed in the physical learning environment (e.g. projection, Doceri, document cameras, wireless presentation, etc.) also fall within the scope of the Instructional Technologist.

     

    The Instructional Technologist will work to oversee the design of protocols and procedures, the training of peers and clients, the maintenance of asset inventory, and collaborate with engineering teams on system designs and operations. The Instructional Technologist will enforce operational efficacy and work to diminish service outages by leveraging effective ITSM processes (e.g. incident, service request, problem, change, and configuration management).

     

    Instructional Technologist will also work with external partners, including consultants, agencies and vendors in the support of the teaching and learning environment. With information technology constantly changing, specialists must stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and the potential effectiveness of these advancements in their current system.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

     

    Instructional Technologists should have completed a bachelor's degree program or higher in instructional design, telecommunications and computer science, or equivalent field. Non-bachelor’s degrees are accepted with equivalent years of experience and relevant professional certifications.

     

    The Instructional Technologist should have at least four years of experience with IT support, classroom technology and technical customer service. Experience supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows and Macintosh computers. Demonstrated experience working in collaboration with a team as an effective team member. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse clientele. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Organizational skills and attention to detail is critical. Exercise good judgment, logic and troubleshooting skills to anticipate and solve problems independently. Proven experience in handling multiple priorities simultaneously. Experience developing, training, and supporting faculty and administrative staff in the use of instructional technology. Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.

    Requires excellent knowledge of functional areas related to the job and the ability to consistently apply applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program objectives when carrying out the duties of the job.   Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proactive working style, excellent follow-through and a can-do attitude.  Requires proficiency with Windows applications; Microsoft Office products; and print production database systems such as WCSS, Foundation, and Custom Route.   Must have proven customer service and project coordination skills with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage deadlines, prioritize workload and make adjustments to meet business needs.  Must be able to work overtime, to possibly include weekends and holidays.
