    RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

    The M.A. Museum Administration program invites applicants for an adjunct faculty position teaching “The History of Museums and Collecting” this spring 2020 semester This 3-credit graduate class meets on Wednesday nights from 5-7 pm on our Queens campus. Professional experience and/or Ph.D. required.

  • Qualifications

    Required:

    • Experience with meteorological data, and their decoding, analysis and display applications.
    • Demonstrated ability developing software in Java.
    • Experience applying software analysis, design, and development methodologies.
    • Experience using software development tools (e.g., git, testing frameworks, debuggers, IDEs).
    • Experience with open-source software projects and development process.
    • Ability to work in a team environment in various roles and as an individual contributor.
    • Demonstrated ability to work closely with diverse staff, end-users, and other developers.
    • Demonstrated ability providing timely user support and diagnosing problems.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
    • Ability to organize and communicate technical material to other developers and end-users.
    • Strong desire to continue learning new skills, tools, and concepts.

     

    Desired, BUT NOT REQUIRED:

    • Experience with the Eclipse IDE Framework and associated toolkits and plugins.
    • Experience with the Spring Framework.
    • Experience with the Ant build system.
    • Experience compiling, installing, and using Python libraries.
    • Experience with scientific, mapping, and geographic Python packages (e.g., Numpy, Matplotlib, Shapely, Cartopy).
    • Experience with meteorological data and data formats (e.g., netCDF, GRIB, BUFR, AREA).
    • Experience with AWS, OpenStack, and/or other Cloud Computing
    • Familiarity with real-time data streams and remote scientific data access methods.
    • Technical writing/software documentation experience.
