    Job Description

    UCP Charter Schools is seeking an experienced Assistant Principal for our UCP Pine Hills Charter School. The Assistant Principal, working in partnership with the Principal and the Education Leadership Team builds and maintains a culture of high academic expectations, where every student can succeed to their maximum ability, maintains a safe and healthy environment and facilitates the participation of parents/guardians to maximize each student’s learning potential. UCP Pine Hills is a Title I school with a high percentage of students with disabilities. This campus has a strong commitment to collaboration and shared leadership among all staff. This position is a year round position.

    Required Experience: At least 3 years of school leadership experience

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    SCHOOL CULTURE.

    · Defines and builds a transformative school culture consistent with UCP’s vision, mission and values.

    · Creates an effective team responsible for attaining school goals and committed to achieving excellence.

    · Creates a climate of acceptance of all students, families and staff to ensure inclusive practices are modeled as well as implemented.

    · Continually monitor progress across all measures of school and staff performance.

    · Maintain high visibility at school and in the community.

    STUDENT PERFORMANCE AND LEARNING

    · Ensures student learning results as evidenced by student growth on assessments and other indicators of success.

    · Work with parents to achieve maximum involvement in support of student performance and success

    • Ensure the focus on continuous improvement addresses the achievement of all students

    INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT

    · Interviews, selects, manages and evaluates the education team

    · Provide instructional leadership to advance proven teaching and learning practices

    · Evaluates, monitors and provides timely feedback to education staff on the effectiveness of instruction.

    · Lead data-driven discussions about student performance for instructional planning and improvement.

    · Implements professional development plans and programming for individual teachers to address deficits, build on strengths, and become more effective, more successful team members

    · Identifies and cultivates potential and emerging leaders

    SCHOOL MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

    · Ensure compliance with full scope of school compliance and regulatory requirements (ESE, DCF, Charter contract, etc.)

    · Manage campus based student recruitment and enrollment process

    · Manages campus budget and maximizes the impact of fiscal resources on instructional priorities.

    · Ensure a safe and orderly environment

    · Work with the Therapy Program Manager to ensure collaboration between therapy and education.

    · Proactively report any concerns that may need to be elevated beyond the school level

    COMMUNITY RELATIONS

    · Develop sustainable and supportive relationships between school leaders, parents, community and other stakeholders

    · Coordinate Campus volunteers

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

    • · Demonstrated ability to lead a school community toward improved academic achievement.

      · Demonstrated experience in working successfully with diverse populations of students, parents and families—including students, parents and families with limited English proficiency and students with disabilities

      · Experience hiring and managing teachers and other instructional staff and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents and members of the community.

      · Experience and knowledge of effective practices in implementing a project based learning model of instruction – differentiating instruction for a wide range of learners.

      · Capacity to mentor teachers in reflective practice.

      · Commitment to continuous improvement and learning through professional development.

      · Knowledge of School District/Exceptional Education Compliance/Department of Children and Families policies and procedures

      · Strong knowledge of using data to drive instruction

      · Excellent technology skills

      · Communication: Listens, writes, and speaks effectively.

      · Critical Thinking & Problem-solving: Effectively organizes and analyzes information and anticipates challenges or new information to solve problems. Integrates and acts upon new information quickly, and is comfortable thinking about details and the big picture

      · Decision-making: Has experience making decisions in a timely manner and in the face of ambiguity. Considers consequences of decisions, willingly stands by difficult decisions, and communicates about decisions.

    EXCELLENT BENEFIT PACKAGE INCLUDING HEALTH, LIFE, AND DISCOUNTED ON-SITE CHILDCARE. SALARY RANGE: $50,000 - $60,000

We currently provide a SET (Support, Education and therapy) of services at eight locations throughout Central Florida including Downtown Orlando, East Orlando, Kissimmee, Lake Mary, Pine Hills and Winter Garden. Our Support services include individual and family counseling, parent support groups and training, teen parent training and support and recreational services. Our education services include inclusive Charter Schools focusing on Arts and Technology for children Birth through age 21 as well as before/after care and summer enrichment services. Our Therapy services include physical, speech and occupational therapy. Over 600 teachers, teacher assistants, therapists, social workers, and administrative support team members work together in a holistic model with the goal of Unlocking the Potential of all children.
