    UNITED CEREBRAL PALSY OF LOS ANGELES, VENTURA & SANTA BARBARA COUNTIES (UCPLA) is hiring a SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST. This position will work directly with the Communications Manager and Senior Leadership to develop quality multimedia content for a variety of online and offline audiences. After 75 years, our organization has outgrown our name and is initiating the rollout of a new brand identity across our family of organizations. The Social Media Specialist must be organized, independent, and passionate about advancing the organization’s brand and mission of providing independence, productivity, and full citizenship for people with disabilities. As the Social Media Specialist, you will create visuals and graphic assets for promoting the organization’s vision of inclusion, access and opportunity for all. You will also work with social media influencers to grow the organization’s content marketing.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  

    • Content Creation in collaboration with Communications Manager and Senior Leadership
    • Pitch and create multimedia stories that lift the visibility of the organization and highlight the accomplishments of the UCPLA community
    • Research and identify articles and posts for sharing to maximize impact and engagement on social media platforms 
    • Ensure that all UCPLA platforms, including subsidiary organizations, has cohesive and consistent information and messaging
    • Support fundraising and awareness across all organization initiatives
    • Assist with preparation of materials for events, invitations, signage, program materials and other items as identified
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    SOCIAL MEDIA QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or Journalism preferred
    • A minimum of three years of relevant experience, preferably with a not-for-profit organization
    • Demonstrated aptitude in online social media, experience working with social media influencers, a plus
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (CS5), particularly photo shop, Illustrator, InDesign and Dreamweaver
    • Proficient knowledge of Constant Contact, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Flicker, Pinterest, and other social media outlets 
    • Have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and insurance at required by California laws
    • Ability to work evenings and weekend as required to fulfill duties
