    UNITED CEREBRAL PALSY OF LOS ANGELES, VENTURA & SANTA BARBARA COUNTIES (UCPLA) is hiring a PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR to assist developmentally disabled individuals with daily living needs in a classroom setting. As an Instructor, you will be responsible for providing instruction to our individuals supported regarding computer technology using adaptive equipment to access the internet and computer software such as painting and gaming programs. You will also provide instruction on a variety of topics such as: physical activity, computer, arts and crafts, cooking, gardening, music, advocacy, social skills, and community integration. As well as creating an environment where our individuals feel welcomed, invited, and supported in their personal and group exploration on various projects and hands-on skills. 

    SCHEDULE: MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, 9:00 AM TO 3:30 PM

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

    • Develops lesson plans for individuals with developmental disabilities consistent with Individual Service Plan (ISP) objectives
    • Manages day-to-day classroom activities consistent with ISP objectives in a remote setting
    • Track and encourage program attendance
    • Ensures that person(s) supported are clean and safe from harm or injury
    • Documents and completes person(s) supported notes, ensuring they are accurate and consistent with individuals behavior
    • Implements quality behavior intervention plans
    • Assists person(s) supported with community-based activities consistent with ISP objectives

    INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Must be 18 years of age or older
    • High school diploma or GED (or substitute experience)
    • At least one year of experience in care and treatment of individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred
    • Have working knowledge of computers and adaptive technology
    • Website design and maintenance; preferred, not required
    • Ability to troubleshoot problems with computers, adaptive equipment, and software
    • Have an understanding of licensing regulations, client's rights, physical activity, emergency procedures, and disaster plans
    • Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, lift, and transfer clients (with assistance / Hoyer Lift) 
    • CPR and First-Aid certified
    • Successfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, physical exam, drug screening, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
    • Must maintain valid and current proof of legal right to drive in California.
