    UNITED CEREBRAL PALSY OF LOS ANGELES, VENTURA AND SANTA BARBARA COUNTIES (UCPLA) is hiring a HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST to join the team at one of our people supported sites located in Torrance, Ca. This position will work closely with senior management.  You will help manage the day-to-day operations of the HR department including, but not limited to, the management of the administration of the human resources policies, procedures, and programs. The individual in this position must be self-directed and able to manage multiple priorities.  3-5 years HR experience is necessary or a combination of HR education and experience. Bilingual Spanish a plus!

    SCHEDULE: 8:00 AM TO 5:00 PM, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Administers and tracks leave of absences and workers' compensation 
    • Acts as first point of contact regarding human resources
    • Manages unemployment claims
    • Assists with on-boarding and exit interviews
    • Acts as resource for HR contacts to ensure their understanding and compliance with company policies and procedures
    • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
    • Travels to various locations when required to manage employee issues, investigations, interviews, and other human resources related concerns
    • Assist with understaffing, handling complaints, arbitrating disputes, resolving grievances, administering disciplinary procedures, and termination of employees
    • Performs other duties as assigned to meet department and/or business needs.

    HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field of study 
    • Minimum of three (3) progressive years of Human Resources work experience
    • Human Resources Certification(s) preferred; not required
    • Bilingual English/Spanish; preferred
    • Knowledge of federal, state and local labor laws
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written 
    • Successfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, reference check, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
    • Valid California Driver License and current insurance, proof of legal right to drive in California
