    UNITED CEREBRAL PALSY OF LOS ANGELES, VENTURA & SANTA BARBARA COUNTIES (UCPLA) is hiring DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS II (DSP II) to assist developmentally disabled individuals with daily living needs in a group home residential setting. As a DSP II, you will support people with their physical, emotional, and social needs by focusing on the person first. Our DSP IIs have the unique opportunity to build a rewarding career in healthcare and to develop caring relationships.

    RATE OF PAY: $16.00 PER HOUR

    SCHEDULES AVAILABLE - 

    AM SHIFT: 6:00 AM TO 2:30 PM, FIVE (5) DAYS PER WORK WEEK, INCLUDING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS PM SHIFT: 2:00 PM TO 10:30 PM, FIVE (5) DAYS PER WORK WEEK, INCLUDING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS  NOC SHIFT: 10:00 PM TO 6:30 AM, FIVE DAYS PER WORK WEEK, INCLUDING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS 

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Maintains and promotes a friendly, comfortable, safe environment where people may progress socially, emotionally, and physically
    • Pass medications, as assigned, per RN medication administration training
    • Assists and trains in all independent living skills including, meal preparation, meal clean-up, bed making, laundry, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and other cleaning tasks
    • Follows, observes, and reports on supported persons Individual Program Plan (IPP)
    • Respects and promotes the rights of individuals
    • Provides direct support and other related duties as assigned by supervisor(s)and/or nursing staff
    • Provides assistances with training of staff as need arises
    • Follows and implements company policies 
    • Drives in company vehicles to appointments and community destinations, as assigned
    • Attends required in-service trainings
    • Performs other duties as assigned to meet department and/or business needs

     

    DSP II QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Must have current CPR and First Aid Certificate
    • Current Direct Support Professional I & Direct Support Professional II certification; required  
    • High School Diploma or equivalent; required
    • Experience working with developmentally disabled individuals; preferred 
    • Read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English well enough to perform essential duties and responsibilities
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Communicate and work professionally and cooperatively with others
    • Successfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, health screening, TB screening and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
    • Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds
    • Must maintain valid and current proof of legal right to drive in California
