    Job Summary


    Under general supervision of the Hematology BMT Cancer Immunotherapy Director of Operations and guided by the policies and procedures of the Medical Center inclusive of both Ambulatory Services and inpatient Medical Surgical Acute Care, the Blood and Marrow Transplant Quality Nurse Manager will plan, organize, direct, implement, and evaluate the quality management plan of the Hematology / Blood and Marrow Transplant Program. The incumbent will work closely with providers, nursing managers (both inpatient and outpatient), collections (both apheresis and marrow), stem cell processing, and BMT support staff, to achieve the highest quality and best possible outcomes for the patient population in a cost effective manner and in compliance with all regulatory agencies. As needed, the incumbent will generate recommendations to address deficiencies in compliance with applicable regulations. Key areas of responsibility include 1) hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of data managers and quality analyst, 2) assuring compliance with regulatory and patient safety goals and standards, 3) oversight and implementation of all BMT related policies, procedures, and controlled documents to maintain excellence in care and maintenance of FACT accreditation, 4) oversight of compiling and reporting of BMT data, 5) assuring required licensure, registrations, and agreements are current, and 6) leading performance improvement initiatives as they relate to BMT quality.

    Required Qualifications

    • ???Bachelor's Degree and five years in a healthcare related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Working knowledge of TJC and FACT requirements.
    • Minimum three years of experience in Blood and Marrow Transplantation.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications including but not limited to Excel, Word, Power Point and Adobe Acrobat.

    License/Certification

    • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California

    The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center in an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. The NCI-Designation recognizes the scientific leadership, resources, and the depth and breadth of the research in basic, clinical and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas. The clinical services encompass adult and pediatric tumors across three campuses as well as regional satellite locations. The clinical cancer program is one of the largest clinical services at UCSF Medical Center and encompasses roughly 230 non-physician FTEs, 90+ cost center, and dozens of grant and philanthropic funding sources. At the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center we are truly pioneering care and leaders in all areas of cancer clinical care and research.     UCSF Hematology and Blood and Marrow Transplant provides specialized treatment for acute and chronic blood conditions. These include cancers of the blood and bone marrow as well as nonmalignant blood disorders. We perform over 230 transplants each year. The Cancer Immunotherapy Program (CIP) provides the newest forms of treatments including cancer vaccines and cellular therapies to patients of all cancer subspecialties. We have a large inpatient service with 66 beds; an infusion center that is co-located on ACC-4. The growth of cellular therapies has been significant over the past few years and we expect that to grow as more CAR-T therapies are approved as standard of care.
