SHINE Systems is hiring a UI/UX Developer to support our customers in the Aerospace and Defense industry.

In this role, you will lead the modernization and consolidation of mission-critical web applications by designing intuitive, user-centered experiences for cleared end users operating in high-stakes environments. You will conduct UX audits and user research, identify friction points within legacy systems, and translate complex operational requirements into streamlined workflows, wireframes, and scalable interface designs.

The ideal candidate will drive the development and maintenance of a robust Figma Design System/UI Kit while partnering closely with technical teams to architect and develop responsive, pixel-perfect web applications using modern frameworks such as React and Angular.

This role also requires ensuring all user interfaces meet Section 508 accessibility compliance standards and support an iterative, agile development lifecycle. 

Required Experience and Qualifications

To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:

• 13 Years of experience in Systems or IT related roles or a highly related field of work with similar scope and responsibilities.
• A Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for 4 years of experience and a Master’s Degree may be substituted for 6 years of experience.

Required Qualifications:

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
• Information Architecture (IA): Proven ability to organize complex data sets into intuitive navigation models and sitemaps.
• Design Tools: Mastery of Figma (auto-layout, components, and prototyping) and Adobe XD.
• Frontend Engineering: Experience building user-facing web applications using React, Angular, or Vue.
• Web Fundamentals: Expert proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript.
• Integration: Experience integrating interfaces with RESTful Services.

Desired Qualifications:

• Styling: Experience implementing SCSS/SASS and micro-animations for user feedback.
• Back-end Awareness: Experience with Java Web, NodeJS, or AWS environments.
• Agile/DevOps: Experience managing code via GitLab and working in an Agile/Scrum framework.
• Real-time Data: Experience using Web Sockets for live data updates.
• Documentation: Experience generating technical documentation and User Stories

Telework/Remote Availability: \- Some telework authorized (Candidates will need to be fully cleared and working on site a minimum of 3 days per week)

Work Location(s): Annapolis Junction, MD, Washington, DC; or Reston, VA

Compensation: $120-145K
