    OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:  

    The Quality Nurse performs the Quality Department functions of Case Management, Utilization Review and Infection Prevention. Case Management responsibilities focus on the facilitation, education, monitoring and evaluation of inpatient care throughout the health care experience. Utilization Review requires chart reviews to ensure the appropriateness and efficacy of care. Infection Prevention responsibilities are focused on surveillance and encouraging compliance to the principles thereof with an emphasis on hand hygiene and the patient care environment.

    KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

    The Quality Nurse coordinates, provides and ensures documentation of care that is safe, timely, effective, and equitable and client centered. This includes interaction and observation of the care team and the environment. 

    1. Facilitates multiple care aspects (care coordination, information sharing, etc.).
    2. Maintains a cooperative relationship with the medical care team throughout each patient encounter.
    3. Assists the patient in their surgical experience to ensure satisfaction.
    4. Records case information, updates and produces statistical reports.
    5. Pro-actively monitors admission status for appropriate status orders and communicates needs to the attending physician.
    6. Pro-actively works with physicians to obtain the documentation needed to support medical necessity.
    7. Pro-actively reviews records and patient admission and treatment plans for medical necessity using evidence based criteria such as InterQual.
    8. Reviews the records requested by Recovery Audit Contractors (RAC) for medical necessity and appropriate documentation to support medical necessity.
    9. Communicates needs and timely submits complete records to the RAC requesting agency and reports this activity to PI and administration.
    10. Abstract/audit medical record charts for documentation.
    11. MIDAS super user with ORYX data input and reports as necessary.
    12. Uses Cerner Electronic health record for abstraction of information and audits.
    13. Provides Infection Control surveillance, data collection, assessment, measurement, and reports findings to the department Director.
    14. Provides surveillance and assessment of infection control practices related to Standard Precautions, Transmission Precautions and Exposure Control and reports those findings to the department Director.
    15. Provides employee education for the prevention of infection.
    16. Provides facility surveillance related to infection control.
    17. Serves as ancillary facility resource person for infection control.
    18. And other duties as assigned within the RN scope of service and training

    Required Skills Required Experience

    LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION:

    1. BLS, if not current, certification within 90 days of hire
    2. Current Oklahoma RN license required.
    3. Previous experience abstracting/auditing medical records is preferred

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

    • High School Diploma/GED

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: 

    • Understanding of Safety guidelines
    • Strong knowledge of applicable Bakco functions and RF systems.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

    • Warehouse/Operations preferred but not required 
    • Understanding of WMS preferred but not required
    • System implementation experience is preferred

    SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Ability to select at established minimum rate for department
    • Astute, close attention to detail
    • Understand and properly follow all selecting procedures and verbal instructions in your respective area: grocery, repack, cooler/freezer.
    • Possess an understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes
