    POSITION MISSION / SUMMARY:

    As a Plant Accountant, you'll provide financial input to our business decision making with the aim to maximize long-term value, cash flows and shareholder return in our Grand Rapids, Michigan converting facility.  The ideal candidate will have five to seven years’ experience in an Accounting / Finance role and will provide accurate and timely financial reporting to ensure we meet our business objectives. In addition, this position will offer the opportunity to work with cross functional teams to analyze data as well as support continuous improvement activities to achieve world class financial reporting standards.

     

    JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

    Analytical support for all Accounting and Finance activities and processes of the local Site Leadership Team.  Key processes include completing month end close, balance sheet reconciliations including but not limited to general ledger accounting, intercompany, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory. Responsibilities also include: analysis and evaluation of the Plant’s monthly operating results and routine (daily, weekly, monthly) performance metrics as requested.  Provide support for compliance initiatives including but not limited to physical inventory counts, analysis of lower cost or market, etc.

     

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. 

    • Validate and analyze month end results: P&L and Balance Sheet including variance analysis and balance sheet account reconciliations
    • Support the Multi-Site Controller with month end results package for the Plant to present to Senior Management
    • Lead month-end close including Balance Sheet reconciliation: Journal/Accrual entry, account reclasses, inventory validation, statistical metrics, period cutoff control, intercompany  
    • Conduct weekly reviews of production order variances to identify unusual variances and report root cause
    • Monitor and work with plant management on Continuous Improvement initiatives and validate savings
    • Ad hoc financial analysis of financial and operating metrics to support business requirement
    • Assist with Forecasting and Budgeting as needed
    • Plant SOX compliance with supporting audits of critical plant processes: Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Inventory Valuation, Shipping/Receiving, Revenue Recognition
    • All other duties as assigned

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Business related field required
    • 5-7 years in an Accounting/ Finance role
    • ERP systems experience required; for example: SAP, Oracle, etc.
    • Travel 5%
    • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office Suite tools
    • Familiar with AP processes and workflows
    • Strong analytical skills are preferred

    SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

    • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

     

     

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
    • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
