    The Summer Camp Coach leads summer camp student engagement and implementation of the summer camp curriculum. This includes welcoming students, setting up camp equipment, delegating and facilitating camp games, social-emotional learning discussions with students , supervising snack and water breaks, overseeing student dismissal, answering parent questions, and cleaning up camp equipment.

    SCHEDULE

    Camp is scheduled to start July 6th and ends July 29th. Summer camp runs Monday-Thursday from 9am-12pm depending on the school site. Lead Coaches are expected to arrive 30 minutes before camp starts and stay 30 minutes after camp has ended for the day. Assistance Coaches are expected to arrive 15 minutes before camp starts and stay 15 minutes after camp has ended for the day.

    COMPENSATION

    You will be provided the following for each role:

    • SUMMER CAMP - ASSISTANT COACH - $17/HOUR, 3.5 HOURS PER DAY, 4 DAYS PER WEEK
    • SUMMER CAMP - LEAD COACH $35/HOUR* - 4 HOURS PER DAY, 4 DAYS PER WEEK

    *Teachers who are certified in PE or SEL can appeal for $50.52/hour rate

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Working with children of all ages
    • Must be able to pass a rigorous background screening 
    • Ability to manage a group of 15 student
    • Adhere to Urban Initiatives’ Code of Ethics
    • Effective communication skills
    • Highly adaptable and enthusiastic about working with youth
    • Initiative and ability to self-manage and lead wherever needed
    • Ability to participate in sustained physical activity
    • Attend a 2-5hr paid training on June 30

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Student behavior management during camp activities and breaks. 
    • Delegate and facilitate games and activities to promote healthy physical activity and positive interactions
    • Parent communication at drop off and pick up and occasionally through parent phone calls when needed
    • Lead daily social-emotional learning discussions as part of the daily camp conclusion
    • Apply first aid as needed in the event of student injury
    • Ensure students are actively engaging in games and activities
