    POSITION SNAPSHOT

    The Health and Safety Manager provides oversight on the compliance of regulatory and corporate program requirements for scheduled and emergency response operations. Manages our PAWS Behavior based safety program forour NorCal offices. Develops and implements project-specific site safety plans and safe operating procedures, prepares and reviews project plans, and implements training programs to increase safety awareness, reduce accident rates, and incorporates safety as an equal partner with quality and production of a project. Performs job site audits and acts as site safety officer. Maintains all health and safety records forthe NorCal offices.

    DAY IN THE LIFE

    After grabbing your favorite morning beverage, you:

    • Assists Project Managers with all client required safety qualification programs.
    • Manage BBS program (PAWS) for employees.
    • Train employees to utilize PAWS Program.
    • Prepare, review, and approve project work plans, health and safety plans, and capital requests to assure health and safety compliance with policies and programs and with applicable regulatory agencies.
    • Perform job site health and safety audits to verify compliance and review with management including evaluating air sampling data when applicable.
    • Conduct accident investigation, reporting and record keeping.
    • Perform general NorCal divisional office safety duties including equipment maintenance and MSDS updates.
    • Conduct monthly All-Hands Safety Meetings as well as on/off-site training programs including OSHA required training, supervisory, site-specific/client specific training, and maintain records.
    • Participate in customer and regulatory audits of facility and jobsites. Provide documentation of safety program (training records, meeting minutes, permits and licenses) for planned and unplanned audits.
    • Communicate corporate and regulatory requirements effectively with a positive attitude on all assigned projects. This requires assuming a leadership role and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and client organizations.
    • Other duties as assignedwhich may include deployment to Domestic ER/Spill events.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY

    • BS in Health or Scientific related field (Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Sciences) and 3-5 years of experience in a generalist Occupational Health and Safety role. Any combination of experience and formal or on the job education is acceptable.
    • Knowledge and training in materials management and compliance or equivalent topics.
    • Technical Knowledge of State/Federal OSHA regulations and policies.
    • Confined Space Qualification, and HAZWOPER, OSHA Supervisor, CPR/First Aid.
    • Ability to qualify, or already possess ASP or CSP certification.
    • Ability to communicate by phone, in-person, and computer with all levels of US ECOLOGY employees, Government officials, and customers.
    • Must have consistent and reliable work ethic and exhibit a high level of integrity, honesty and professionalism in all activities and situations.
    • Ability and willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed.
