Salary:
Hourly rate between $25 and $28.
Working Hours:
Take weekends off.
Choose to work either the second shift or the third shift:
- Second shift: Monday to Friday from 2pm to 10:30pm
- Third shift: Sunday to Thursday from 10pm to 6:30am

Responsibilities:
:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, replace, repair, and rebuild all diesel equipment (including tractors, trailers, reefers, lift gates, and more).
- Perform preventative maintenance in keeping with company standards.
- Document all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability.
- Handle road service calls and transport equipment as needed.
- Log in and out of the Shop Fax system to keep track of assigned repairs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment that meets workplace safety regulations and government guidelines.
- Maintain inventory and proper recordkeeping.
- Backup other maintenance shop personnel.
- Be willing to assume increased responsibility and certifications as needed.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Relationships:
Internal: VP of Operations, Transportation Manager, and various other USF personnel
External: Vendors, Parts and equipment delivery personnel
Qualifications:
Education/Training:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Related Experience/Requirements:
- A valid Class-A CDL license and DOT certification preferred.
- Must have five years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic or a combination of both; or three years of verifiable hands-on experience with either Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification or both.
- Competency in diagnostic and troubleshooting relating to equipment repairs.
- Demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience in administering appropriate PM program.
- Must furnish own personal hand tools.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations pertaining to the shop and fleet.
- Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals.
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrated teamwork skills, able to communicate with co-workers and drivers.
- Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
- Computer and software experience.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
- Must be able to work overtime when needed.
