Overview of the role
As our US People Partner, you’ll be a key member of the People team, based in New York and supporting our growing studio teams across New York and California. You'll work closely with Studio Managers, our Education team, and the UK-based People team to lead day-to-day people support, including but not limited to employee relations, cultural initiatives, and coordination of our hiring and onboarding process.
This is a true generalist role, ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys partnering with operational leaders, and is passionate about building exceptional employee experiences.
Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Employee Relations & Studio Support
Act as the first point of contact for Studio Managers on people-related queries and ER matters
Lead on ER issues including investigations, performance improvement, and disciplinary processes (with support from the People Director)
Support consistent application of policies, procedures, and coaching tools
Partner with the People Director to ensure studio-level compliance with NY and CA employment law
Policy, Compliance & Handbook Ownership
Own the maintenance of US employee handbooks (NY and CA), partnering with ADP and legal advisors to ensure content is legally up-to-date and accessible
Assist in the creation and rollout of new or revised policies and processes that reflect business changes, legal updates, or studio feedback
Ensure all employees are aware of and have access to key documents and training requirements
Support weekly payroll processes in collaboration with Finance, ensuring timely submission and accuracy across timekeeping, leave balances, and employee records
Recruitment Coordination
Support full-cycle recruitment for US studio roles in partnership with the UK-based Recruiter, including screening, scheduling, and trade test coordination
Manage the internal ATS, ensuring all candidate records and documents are accurately maintained throughout the hiring process
Lead local outreach efforts to strengthen early-career pipelines, including school and college partnerships, job fairs, and community engagement initiatives
Champion FACEGYM’s employer brand across the US by cultivating local partnerships and representing the brand at industry and recruitment events
Culture & Engagement
Lead studio engagement initiatives such as anniversaries, recognition, and seasonal celebrations
Support DEI and values-led programs across US locations
Champion FACEGYM’s culture and ensure it translates consistently across studios
Employee Lifecycle & People Operations
Coordinate all onboarding and offboarding activities for US studio employees, ensuring a smooth employee experience and full compliance with internal processes and legal requirements
Liaise with the People Operations Specialist (UK) on onboarding, compliance, and systems support (e.g., HRIS, LMS, Internal Comms)
Ensure timely completion of right-to-work checks, mandatory training, and systems onboarding for all new hires
Own US studio-level reporting (e.g., probation reviews, absence tracking, engagement feedback etc.)
Person Specification:
A positive, can-do attitude with a genuine passion for people and team culture.
4–6 years of experience in HR generalist, People Partner, or similar roles, ideally supporting retail, wellness, or hospitality teams
Strong working knowledge of NY and/or CA employment law, and experience in managing sensitive ER matters
A natural problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys rolling up their sleeves
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Able to earn trust at all levels, from new starters to studio leadership
A high degree of proactivity and ownership. You take initiative, follow through, and spot opportunities to improve how we work
Experience coordinating hiring and onboarding processes, and ideally exposure to managing or updating policies and handbooks
Comfortable using HR systems and tools (experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred)
Must be based in NYC and willing to be present across our 4 studio locations at least twice per week.
