  • Responsibilities

     

     

    Responsible for maintaining the highest quality product for domestic and international services, consistent with Starz technical standards. Position includes screening and performing necessary conformance on audio, video and text components as necessary. Screening materials includes identifying problematic frame rates, file formats, technical flaws and analysis at the version and component level. Rejections should include detailed and ranked flaws for severity. Ensure accuracy of QC-related data within company databases.

     

    Position will work independently with little supervision; Saturday through Tuesday, 4, 10-hour shifts.

     

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

     

    • Perform quality control (QC) evaluations on content used across all Starz platforms including domestic and international. This consists of version and component based recognition and assembly of materials, as well as full QC’s detailing all aesthetic and technical issues across picture, audio and text. Materials will be accepted or rejected following evaluation.
    • Compile detailed and accurate Quality Control reports for all materials viewed
    • Assist with the processing and check-in of file based assets as necessary
    • As needed, transfer received file based assets from AWS via Aspera to materials and QC storage
    • As needed, conform and edit video, audio, and text files and confirm synchronization across all elements. Work includes syncing audio tracks, normalizing text files, adding and removing logos, dub cards, and rendering output files.
    • Assist in managing international QC content workflows, and work with international materials team to insure proper check in and tracking of dubbed and regionalized file based assets
    • Work to recognize and track regionalized versions across inventory
    • Assist in review of rejections and provide technical advice regarding solutions
    • Navigate internal Starz systems and verify correct QC data across toolsets such as QC Review, IBMS, and POA to accurately obtain information to conduct accurate work
    • Verify metadata where applicable
    • Evaluate acquisition screener files and tapes as requested
    • Special project version verification research as needed
    • Maintenance of quality control suites (i.e. cleaning equipment and maintain supplies, etc.) when needed

     

     

    Required Skills

     

     

     

    • 3-5 years’ experience in media asset management, media operation or quality control
    • Familiarity with audio/video/text monitoring
    • Experience identifying and differentiating film and video problems
    • Understanding of content localization
    • Previous experience with UHD, HD, D5, Dolby E, and digitally encoded media such as Windows Media, QuickTime, and VC1 preferred
    • Knowledge in both Mac and PC based operating systems
    • Experience with AWS, Aspera and other file delivery mechanisms
    • Ability to create projects in NLE programs (Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premier and Final Cut Pro)
    • Ability to edit in NLE programs (Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premier and Final Cut Pro)
    • Experience working with codecs and containers such as Prores, MPEG2, AVC, .mov, .h264, .mxf
    • Previous experience with Avid, Premiere, Media Encoder, Telestream Episode, Mac Captions, MF3, a plus

    • Knowledgeable in all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Project software applications
    • Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures
