    WHO ARE WE

    USA Rare Earth's mission is to create a fully integrated, US-based “mine-to-magnet” critical mineral supply chain supporting the ongoing green revolution. Come be a part of a growing and dynamic team, motivated to create change in the industry.

    We are seeking an engineering undergraduate student for our Research and Development facility to assist with chemical process and with laboratory work studying the separation of metals and utilizing different extraction techniques. A variety of separations are being examined and optimized. The work here is expected to focus on the durability of polymeric resins and the efficiency of removal of final products.

    A co-op is available for winter/spring semester, with the option to extend into the summer.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • Running and optimizing process equipment
    • Making and handling chemical solutions
    • Detailed documentation of any observations associated with the process
    • Data Manipulation by making graphs, spreadsheets, etc.
    • Creative Problem Solving and critical thinking
    • Effective communication in a team environment
    • Will be trained in laboratory safety procedures and must follow these consistently
    • Manual Labor – will be lifting and moving items up to 70 lbs.

    ** WHO YOU ARE**

    • A student who desires to obtain relevant laboratory experience in preparation for graduate school or a career involving these industries: chemistry, chemical engineering, metallurgical engineer, or petroleum engineering.
    • An ability to conduct laboratory experiments, sometimes independently, with the utmost regard to safety.
    • An inquiring mind, with attention to detail and the ability to follow and prioritize multiple projects.
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in a degree granting program or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. The Internship period cannot exceed 12 months past graduation.
    • Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
    • Preferred : Previous laboratory work experience
    • Preferred : Knowledge or experience related to experimental research and the scientific method is desirable but not required
    • Preferred : Aptitude for hands-on projects.
    • Preferred : Aptitude for technical problem solving
    • Preferred : Computer skills for logging and organizing large data sets
