    JOB SUMMARY:

    Oversee all aspects of USADA’s communications, publications, marketing, branding, advertising, public relations efforts and serves as the organization’s primary media contact. Manage and develop USADAs brand and media relations, its mission for clean athletes and the integrity of sport, by creating and maintaining effective relationships with members of the media, as well developing proactive strategies to directly address emerging issues. Provide guidance, assistance and/or management for all components of communications, social media programming and publications including monitoring for all program processes, material and project development, and program administration, evaluation, and reporting.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Develop long-term strategic planning for communications and media initiatives, as well as annual tactical planning

    Lead the development and implementation of marketing, public relations, and media strategy plans and programs and oversees the planning and reviewing of communications initiatives generated by Communications department, as well as by other departments to ensure consistency, brand messaging accuracy, and effectiveness

    Cultivate and manage positive and beneficial relationships with members of the media and coordinate other USADA staff’s interaction with media members, working with national and international media outlets

    Supervise and assist in developing comprehensive press communications plans/policies and crisis communications planning; social media policies; press releases; developing and managing story lines with journalists and media

    Direct and conduct press conferences/teleconferences as needed

    Manage and coordinate major media projects, past examples include: HBO Real Sports, HBO 24/7, 60 Minutes, Outside the Lines, ABC Evening News, and the CBS Early Show

    Coordinate the development and documentation of USADA brand assets, as well as dissemination and communication of brand to internal staff and closely related stakeholders

    Oversees the marketing and promotion activities, including development and execution of clean sport public service advertising campaigns

    Oversees and/or supports distribution of published information to all external parties, including USADA publications and website content, video and graphic materials

    Develop and leverage relationships with related external parties, including but not limited to – USOC, National Governing Bodies, International Federations, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and other key stakehodlers

    Supervises Communications Manager, Writer & Publications Editor and Media Relations Coordinator, providing guidance in determining appropriate priorities and direction, conducting performance evaluations and developing a high functioning team

    Participates in and attend anti-doping and PR industry events to cultivate relationships, building awareness, and expanding knowledge base in support of USADA’s strategic initiatives

    Facilitate preparations related to executive leadership and Board of Director presentations and events

    Travel as necessary to conferences, trade shows, or special events to deliver presentations, or to support/promote USADA programs and resources

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    BS / BA degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field

    Minimum five (5) years related work experience in publications/communications, marketing, advertising, and/or public relations areas

    Minimum five (5) years successful work experience with staff management, supervision, and process creation

    Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Ability to create and maintain relationships with media

    Ability to remain calm and perform accurately under pressure

    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

    Ability to work with various levels of management

    Ability to interact with internal and external customers

    Ability to work in a diverse team environment

    Able to meet deadlines

    Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed

    Proficiency in MS Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Work experience in athletics and sport

    Work experience in creating and implementing public relations campaigns

    Work experience in creating and implementing social media communications strategies
