TUE(Therapeutic Use Exemption) and Drug Reference Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY:
Serving athletes and USADA stakeholders by delivering superior service related to Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) and Drug Reference inquiries grounded in anti-doping policies and processes. The position works internally to facilitate timely and accurate responses from USADA regarding anti-doping, drug reference and TUE matters to various sport communities. Responsible for processing, coordinating, managing and assisting with organizational processes related to USADA’s Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) and Drug Reference inquiry procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as primary contact for athletes, support personnel, International Federations (IFs), USOPC, and National Governing Bodies (NGBs) relating to the TUE procedures & statuses as well as Drug Reference topics
Organize and maintain filing system for all documents related to TUE procedures & Drug Reference matters
Draft and submit email correspondence to athletes using approved templates on a consistent basis
Organize and distribute email correspondence to athletes, International Federations (IFs), and National Governing Bodies (NGBs)
Process Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) forms and update USADA database of all TUE documentation
Review and respond to all TUE Pre-Check forms and provide feedback on TUE applications
Conduct daily reviews of athlete declarations of substances
Support Therapeutic Use Exemptions Committee (TUEC) with necessary documentation packets (redacted) as required
Engage with the TUEC regarding monthly review of invoices for all TUEC Physicians as well as any IT-related issues
Support leadership on matters related to scientific issues, policy, education, programs and meetings as needed
Provide support to USADA Legal & Results Management on cases (correspondence and inquiries for TUE & retroactive TUE procedures) as well as the USOPC Athlete Ombudsman Office and USOPTC Director/Assistant Director
Identify any documents requiring translation services and process through approved translation service provider
Manage & coordinate with International Federations (IF) & Major Event Organizations (MEO) regarding TUEs.
Primary point of contact for the TUE & Drug Refence phone lines directing athletes/support personnel to the appropriate subject matter expert within the department and logging all phone conversations as directed
Collect and organize Olympic Sport Drug Reference & TUE data for annual reports & trend analysis
GENERAL:
Maintain confidentiality at all times
Recommend necessary updates and revisions to USADA protocol and procedures as related to Science Division
Projects and other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to work with various levels of management in a fast-paced work environment
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in applied/life science or health-related field; or equivalent/applicable experience
Knowledge of and experience with scientific literature/terminology
Ability to multitask and work accurately under pressure and within deadlines working flexible hours as needed
Ability to conduct research and work in a diverse environment with a focus on attention to detail
Moderate to advanced proficiency in MS Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook,) as well as database and statistical analysis tools
Familiarity with sport or anti-doping rules.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Understanding of the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List and potential performance-enhancing drugs
Working knowledge of prescription and over the counter medications in the US, including familiarity with brand names and the ability to research formulations and current regulations; dietary supplement industry, ingredients, chemical make-up, herbal medicine practices, etc.
