    Position Summary: The Security Specialist supports physical security operations for the Special Operations Mission Training Center and serves within the Physical Security Section of the Facility Management Branch. This position assists with facility access control, security documentation, visitor processing, security program administration, and implementation of Army physical security policies and procedures. The Security Specialist helps ensure protection of Government personnel, facilities, equipment, information, and training resources while maintaining compliance with applicable security regulations. This position directly contributes to mission readiness by providing secure operational environments for training and exercise activities.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Implement and support Army physical security policies and procedures.

    • Coordinate physical security actions and documentation.

    • Process and maintain facility security information and records.

    • Assist with installation access processing and visitor security procedures.

    • Operate and support the Special Operations Mission Training Center Electronic Security System.

    • Issue and manage facility badges for authorized personnel, visitors, and training participants.

    • Maintain security records, logs, and accountability documentation.

    • Support video surveillance and electronic security system operations.

    • Assist with safeguarding Government facilities, equipment, information, and property.

    • Support key control, lock combination accountability, and access control procedures.

    • Coordinate with Government security personnel on security matters.

    • Provide customer support and security guidance to personnel and visitors.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Education: Associate degree.

    • Six years of military experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

    • Five years of physical security experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

    • Experience: Minimum five years of experience in Army physical security activities

    • Knowledge of Army physical security policies and procedures.

    • Knowledge of customer service practices and principles.

    • Experience submitting Fort Bragg Form 975 to the Fort Bragg Directorate of Emergency Services Physical Security Division.

    • Strong computer skills.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.

    • Ability to manage contractor staff information.

    • Strong customer service orientation.

    • Excellent attention to detail.

    • Ability to clearly articulate instructions and information to visitors.

    • Ability to provide accurate directions and information.

    • Completion of Defense Information System for Security training and required certifications necessary for account access.

    • Clearance: Active Secret Security Clearance

    • Knowledge of physical security program concepts, theories, principles, and practices.

    • Experience reviewing, analyzing, and resolving physical security issues.

    • Maintain a Secret security clearance throughout performance.

    • Comply with National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual requirements.

    • Complete Threat Awareness and Reporting Program training.

    • Complete Anti-Terrorism Level I Awareness Training.

    • Complete Operations Security Awareness Training.

    • Complete Department of Defense Cyber Awareness Training when required.

    • Meet installation access and identity verification requirements.

    • Comply with Government force protection, security, safety, and information protection requirements.

    • Possess professional communication skills necessary to interact with Government personnel, training audiences, visitors, and contractor personnel.

    Physical Ability to:

    • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.

    • Ability to perform duties within office, facility, and training environments.

    • Ability to use computers, security systems, and administrative software tools.

    • Ability to conduct security inspections and accountability activities.

    • Ability to access multiple facilities throughout the workday.

    • Ability to respond to security-related issues during operating hours.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
