  • Responsibilities
    • The Senior System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO):

    • Manage and Maintain Infrastructure Environment (Servers and Network) for all locations
    • Optimize information access and server infrastructure performance and integrity.
    • Ensure consistency and synchronization across server platform and integrate other infrastructure components.
    • Help automate and streamline Infrastructure operations and DevOps processes. Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations
    • Ensure that the technical environment is properly monitored and correctly used in the timely resolution of problems
    • Provide expertise in cross-functional and intra-departmental efforts, interfacing with Project Managers and Architects
    • Identify system performance issues and oversee the development and correct use of tools to resolve these problems.
    • Analyze data critical to capacity forecasting, asset management and procurement.
    • Tier3 escalation point for Help Desk incidents involving infrastructure components.
    • Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
    • Business Continuality Planning/Disaster Recovery
    • Maintain documentation including server build docs, configuration standards, infrastructure architecture
    • Develop corrective action plans and Root Cause Analysis documents for both internal and client distribution.
    • Support & Maintain both customer-facing production systems and QA and Dev systems
    • Heightened sense of urgency and caution regarding production issues and systems is imperative
    • Responsible for gathering relevant data to determine system capacity needs and make plans for capacity expansions in a proactive manner
    • Participates in on-call rotation for after-hours emergency support and maintenance of a 24x7 Production Environment.

    Required Skills

    • Virtualization platforms VMware and Hyper-V.
    • Demonstrate understanding of monitoring, backup, asset management and trending software (e.g. SCOM, SCCM, SolarWinds, ArcServe UDP, Zabbix, Uptime, Veeam)
    • Demonstrated experience and operational knowledge of IT infrastructure (e.g. Windows, Linux, active directory, Powershell)
    • Demonstrate experience in Azure, AWS cloud platform
    • Automation tools such as Teraform, vRealize Automation, Ansible, etc

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience. 7+ years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.
    • Relevant industry certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
    • US Citizens without Dual Citizenship.

     

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENT, WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Travel requirement, such as:

    • Occasional overnight travel as required; should not exceed 20-30% of the time

     

    Working Conditions, such as:

    • Manufacturing shop environment. Exposure to noise, dust, and hazards associated with manufacturing equipment and tools. Working areas may not be ventilated or air-conditioned.

     

    Physical Demands, such as:

    • The work requires moderate physical effort with recurring lifting and/or moving of moderately heavy items in the 30-50 pound range and occasional lifting up to 75 pounds. Requires long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Requires manual dexterity and ability to manipulate small objects. Normal range of hearing and vision required to operate machinery and forklifts.
