    JOB TITLE:  Nuclear Engineer/ Analyst - Reactor Physics

    DIVISION:  Commercial Power

    CLASS TYPE:  Full-time

    LOCATION OF WORK & TRAVEL: Paris, France with some travel

    JOB TITLE & DESCRIPTION: USNC is looking for full-time Nuclear Engineers/Analysts – Reactor Physics (Junior to Senior level) to join the Analysis team.  We are a small team and require all employees to be multi-disciplined and open to tackling a variety of tasks. We place a strong emphasis on interpersonal communication, teamwork, and collaboration. A positive, professional, and pleasant attitude is a must!  

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Candidates that qualify in one or more of the technical areas are invited to apply:  

    _Perform nuclear analysis with the focus on one or more of the areas listed below: _

    • Reactor Core Design: conducting reactor analyses to help characterize and understand phenomena pertaining to the MMR® core design, cycle analysis and dynamic behavior including thermal fluid analysis  
    • Radiation Physics: conducting activation, radiation and shielding analyses to help characterize and understand design needs pertaining to the MMR® 
    • Criticality Evaluation: conducting criticality analyses (core and ex-core) to help characterize and understand phenomena pertaining to the MMR® and Fuel Manufacturing Facilities. 
    • Safety case: conducting safety related nuclear power plant analyses (events and accidents) to help characterize and understand phenomena pertaining to the MMR® and specifically to support the safety case and licensing.

     

    _Depending on the experience and post level in addition also: _

    • Define and substantiate the evaluation models for each analysis and software code utilized to represent the required geometry, phenomena and features of the reactor or system that would yield analysis and results with the required accuracy and fidelity of the figure of merit in question. 
    • Perform detailed technical reviews and perform independent analysis and checks to verify results. 
    • Supervise and assist engineers / analysts not yet fully qualified 
    • Perform verification and validation and identify gaps

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

    • Junior: Minimum a degree in Engineering or equivalent field of study (4-year B.S degree in Physics, Chemistry, etc.) 
    • M.S. or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering, or equivalent  
    • Expertise in neutronics  
    • Expertise in thermal fluid analysis (thermal hydraulics)  
    • Experience with Monte Carlo transport codes  
    • Experience in system/accident analysis codes 
    • 0+ to 10+ years of experience in nuclear industry, university or in nuclear research laboratories

      

    PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

    • Knowledge of nuclear power projects, SMRs and micro reactors is important 
    • Knowledge of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors and their safety features, will be an advantage. 
    • Experience with deterministic transport, diffusion and system codes  
    • Experience with Monte Carlo codes 
    • Programming proficiency to aid in analysis (e.g., automation, pre- and post-processing)
