    JOB TITLE: Safety Technician

    DIVISION: Corporate - Operations

    LOCATION OF WORK: Salt Lake City, UT

    TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS: Minimal travel (<10%)

    DESCRIPTION:

    The Safety Technician assists the USNC ES&H Team in the planning, coordinating, and implementing Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation's Environmental Health and Safety programs, policies, and procedures to maintain the desired healthy safety culture. This position assists in ensuring companywide compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support site management's requirement to safely execute a quality process.
    • Assist with hazardous, non-hazardous, and non-regulated waste management, including proper handling, labelling, storage and shipping.
    • Assist in administering the company's Health & Safety Program locally; site Accident Prevention Plans; Activity Hazard Analyses; Process Hazard Analyses; and other site-specific plans, procedures, and policies
    • Assist with Health & Safety Training, ensuring employees understand hazards associated with site conditions and activities and methods to mitigate those hazards
    • Audit and inspect site conditions and activities; initiate corrective and preventive actions and verify the effectiveness of actions taken
    • Assist in maintaining the facility wide, web based chemical inventory list and Safety Data Sheets
    • Provide guidance of safety improvements
    • Assist incident investigations with affected supervisor, assuring actionable causes of incidents are acted on by managers and supervisors and verifying the effectiveness of actions taken
    • Assist in conducting weekly safety meetings with site staff.
    • Industrial Hygiene sampling and monitoring as needed
    • Maintain an inventory of industrial hygiene instrumentation and monitoring equipment
    • Work closely with technical and operations staff to provide effective and efficient safety and industrial hygiene support
    • Other duties as assigned by the ES&H Manager and/or ES&H Supervisor
    • Encourages a healthy safety culture by promoting a safety conscious work environment.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • AS degree in Occupational Health or other applicable discipline or the equivalent of 3 years of experience as a Safety Technician

    PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

    • Strong interpersonal skills along with excellent written and verbal communications.
    • Ability to focus on details as required.
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Including MS Teams.
    • Ability to explain complex issues to others in a manner easily understood by both associates in the industry and those with limited knowledge of industrial safety.
    • Excellent problem/conflict resolution skills, with the ability to handle and diffuse difficult situations in a positive manner.
    • Self-motivated, ability to initiate with instruction from supervision.
