    JOB TITLE:  Nuclear Engineer

    DIVISION:  Advanced Technologies

    CLASS TYPE:  Full-time

    LOCATION OF WORK & TRAVEL: Seattle, WA, with limited to no travel.

    DESCRIPTION:  Ultra Safe Nuclear is looking for a full-time Nuclear Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this position, the Nuclear Engineer will be responsible for conducting reactor analyses to help characterize and understand phenomena pertaining to the Micro Modular Reactor™. The work will leverage both industry-standard and internally-developed neutronic and safety-analysis tools.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform core analysis and optimization using Monte Carlo and diffusion solutions
    • Characterize source term to support and perform dose release calculations

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • B.S. or greater in nuclear engineering or related discipline
    • Experience in at least one of the following fields: criticality calculations, dose release, safety analysis
    • Experience with a Monte Carlo transport code
    • 2+ years of experience in nuclear industry or in nuclear research laboratories
    • Programming proficiency to aid in analysis (e.g., automation, pre- and post-processing)

    PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience with Serpent Monte Carlo code
    • Experience generating multi-group cross sections for nuclear applications
    • Familiarity with coupled Thermal Hydraulic/Neutronic analyses, preferable in the high temperature reactor realm.
    • Familiarity with Python programming language
    • Familiarity with high performance computing workflows (e.g., job schedulers, basic scripting)
    • Ability to write and speak clearly about technical subject matter 
    • Highly self-motivated and able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
