    Required Skills

    What you will do:

    Account management: In partnership with underwriters, agents and customer service representatives, performs complex policy application and maintenance services; processing applications; researching policyholder experience; reviewing/entering payroll reports; reviewing/entering audits; providing loss runs; reconciling cancelled policies. Issues new and renewal policies and quotes and applying scheduled rating within outlined authority. Educates customers on workers’ compensation coverage, determining coverage eligibility and policy premium amount and providing payment and reinstatement options. Assists in review of anticipated risks, hazards, and losses to support pricing decisions of underwriting decisions for each policyholder in accordance with Montana State Fund Guidelines and Procedures, and NCCI Basic Manual. Enhances the customer experience to achieve new business and retention goals.

    Complex issue resolution: Through critical thinking, anticipate unintended problems, analyze underwriting issues and generate solutions for inquiries. Perform routine policy maintenance and service requests for customers while identifying and resolving complex policy issues. Proactively assist with evaluation, assessment and documentation of appropriate risk rating and pricing strategy of each assigned policy. Researches and analyzes underwriting factors related to policy applications including appropriate coding, loss history, classification code, and interacts with policyholder, agent or representative on policy price, renewal status, and audit results. Partners with assigned underwriter and/or underwriting services when appropriate.

    Special projects and support: Partners with MSF Underwriters and leadership to evaluate, assess and strategize prospects for new business and targets for renewal business. Analyzes organizational data using Insurance Intelligence and other tools to advise team members, underwriters and operations leadership of necessary actions. Supports department and enterprise special projects.

    Required Experience

    What you will need (minimum qualifications):

    Required:

    • Current valid Montana Casualty Producer License.
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • A minimum of four (4) years of experience working for an independent agency in a customer or account relationship role.

    OR an Equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Internal candidates are eligible with two (2) years’ experience as an MSF Customer Service Specialist

    Preferred:

    Workers’ Compensation insurance experience

    Other Requirements

    This position requires regular attendance in the designated workplace. You must have strong technical skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and our internal platforms, such as MSF claims and policy systems.

    You will be responsible for managing a book of business with limited supervision, adhering to both MSF and NCCI guidelines. Within your first year, you will be required to pass the CPCU 500 exam. Finally, you are expected to perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner, following all company safety guidelines.


    Compensation and Benefits: Pay range 2B. Starting salary for this exempt position begins at $45,200 - $56,500.
