We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our small but high-impact finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to play a critical part in our monthly close processes, account reconciliations, tax filings, financial analysis and help shape scalable processes. This position is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in accounting principles (GAAP), strong analytical abilities, and a proactive approach to process improvement.
As the Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for the following:
Assist with monthly close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
Prepare and maintain lead schedules and documentation for balance sheet accounts
Maintain accounting records across general ledger, payroll, and expenses
Support amortization and reconciliation of prepaid expenses, loans, leases, and other accounts
Perform variance analysis to explain budget-to-actual results
Assist with audit documentation, internal reviews, and collateral exams
Prepare and file various tax returns such as franchise, local, and property taxes
Collaborate with the Finance Manager on ad-hoc projects and financial reporting
Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes
Communicate clearly with finance and non-finance stakeholders to validate financial data
You hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred)
You bring 2–3 years of accounting experience, ideally in a small- to mid-sized corporate environment ($50–$100M revenue)
You have a strong understanding of accrual and GAAP accounting standards
You have hands-on experience with account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reportin
You are proficient in Microsoft Excel, and experience with NetSuite is a plus
You approach problems with a continuous improvement mindset and take ownership of accuracy
You excel at prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and working both independently and collaboratively
You communicate effectively across teams, bridging finance and non-finance stakeholders
Technology oriented: You are well versed in G Suite applications and adept at learning new technologies. You take initiative to recommend and implement new tools into our workflow that streamline operations and drive innovation.
Metrics minded: We build great stuff, but it is not easy. You are driven to find the numbers that help us hit goals and identify solutions, especially while under pressure.
Agile: Multitasking is necessary in a growing, fast paced company, as is the ability to plan and organize your workload. You must be flexible and nimble to adapt to shifting priorities.
