Job Description

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

Perform packing and securing a wide range of products in boxes, crates, cartons and individual packs as specified to process orders for shipment to customer.  Duties involve the regular use of computers, strapping tools, electric hand trucks, fork lift, Raymond side loader and other material moving equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review customer specs and packing instructions, identify and select products and/or materials to be packaged.
• Pack product using established methods and packing materials.
• Crate and/or skid products, band and secure as required
• Check shipment for accuracy and completeness, and refer all questionable cases to Shift Supervisor.
• Advise Shift Supervisor in timely manner of the need to replenish packing material and obtain materials as necessary.
• Enter packing and shipping information in system in accordance with established process.
• Measure, cut and assemble crates, skids as required. 
• Responsible for complying with all quality system procedures and requirements documented in the Company’s quality system as pertains to this position.
• Follow all defined safety practices and procedures.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent, plus a minimum of 6 months of previous, related experience performing packing or material handling duties within production environment.
• Ability to read, write, problem solve and perform basic math calculations to a level generally equivalent to that attained at a high school level, including the use and calculation of decimals, fractions.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Demonstrated ability to use reason and judgment in the planning and performance of duties.
• Able to lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Regular attendance is an essential requirement for this position.
