Job Summary

The CNC Operator will be responsible for working closely with his/her manager, supervisor, and or team to monitor and produce high-precision components. The job requires attention to fine detail and an ability to maintain consistent processes proven by frequent in-process inspection. In addition to processing parts, operators are required to maintain equipment, documentation, and tooling required.

Job Responsibilities

Core Job Duties:

• Run machine and meet daily production targets
• Regularly required to take detailed measurements with Micrometers, Calipers, Indicators
• Communicate with the area Manager about any issues or problems in production immediately
• Adhere to check good pass good inspection criteria and in-process inspection for all jobs
• Strict adherence to trained process/work instruction and ownership of communicating any inconsistency, questions or issues
• Clean and maintain machinery and work area in the department daily

Area-Specific Job Duties:

• Start-up and warm-up machines
• Accurately measure parts and determine adjustments needed
• Control cutter and work offset to keep parts in tolerance.
• Install and align tooling.
• Ability to perform basic part set-ups.
• Strong knowledge of interpreting mechanical drawings, tolerances, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Inspection of finished parts to determine whether parts meet specifications.
• Train, assist, and support other employees running jobs to keep parts in tolerance.
• Provide Inspection documentation, review notebooks, and in-process inspection documentation, and ensure inspections are being recorded at production machining centers.
• Question and review any issues with Machine Shop Supervisor, and technical lead in your area.
• Strong understanding of appropriate speeds and feeds, machine capacity, and capabilities.
• Must be available to work unscheduled overtime to meet production needs.
• Work with QC to resolve any quality issues at machining centers.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Competencies

Educational Requirements:

• GED or High school diploma
• Vocational education or solid work experience.

Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to follow directions and attention to detail
• Capable of understanding blueprints or drawings for both mechanical and optical standards
• Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced, and high-stress environment
• Good mental dexterity and decision making
• Excellent communication skills
• Analytical troubleshooting / problem-solving
• Good time management skills
• Experienced in Machine Set-ups
• Understanding Mechanical drawings
• Familiarity with computers to include but not limited to Microsoft Office

Language Skills:

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management.

Additional Requirements:

• Pursuant to ITAR, EAR, and other export compliance laws and regulations, applicants for this position must be U.S. Persons as defined by U.S. law, i.e., U.S. citizens, and lawful permanent residents.

Physical Demands:

Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp

• The employee is frequently required to use the computer
• The job will require regular lifting and moving of 30-50 lbs.

Work Environment:

• May require area-specific safety training

• This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Salary Range: $33 - $42 /Hr.
