THE OPPORTUNITY Reporting to and under the guidance of our Senior Director of Strategy (who also manages R&D and the IP Portfolio), the Researcher will work within our Strategy Team. The Researcher will support the creation and maintenance of a multi-dimensional market research archives, help deepen our understanding of the competitive landscape, conduct interdisciplinary analysis between market and intellectual property for various technologies, help create high-quality visualization of outcomes, and produce well-polished internal and external reports.  The researcher will directly contribute to the decision-making for our technology and applications! There may also be the opportunity for the Researcher to also be involved in various initiatives with R&D to build proofs-of-concept.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead research and database management for Technology Strategy
    • Enjoy both independent and collaborative work
    • Own and complete projects with shorter timelines, often juggling more than one assignment simultaneously
    • Demonstrate the ability to be extremely organized and detail-oriented
    • Help define and manage a master structure for our Competitive Landscape Database (a visual multidimensional archive that incorporates intellectual property, market research, our business needs, and other ‘layers' to gain deep insight into the full cross-section of all industries that we will impact).
    • Create, modify and manage routine processes for foundational intelligence collection for the Competitive Landscape (i.e. write scripts to scrape media outlets or articles for technology keywords and automatically populate a high-quality spreadsheet)
    • Develop novel ways to visualize data when possible
    • Carry out analysis to compare and contrast market research results with the intellectual property landscape to help tech strategy formation
    • Contribute to our internal departmental Quarterly Report
    • Evaluate industry tech and intellectual property gaps through Competitive Landscape Database and collaborate with the team to identify opportunities for Uncharted Power
    • Collaborate with internal departments to understand current product development to have context for research projects
    • Inspire partners and teammates through accurate and well-defined verbal and written presentations
    • Lead data entry, sourcing research, and summarizing key findings for executive review
    • Work with a globally diverse customer base and employee community
    • Assist and support in other departments/company duties as necessary

    Qualifications

    • B.S. in Business, Engineering, Science or related field; M.S. preferred
    • Minimum 0-3 years of relevant market research experience
    • Passion for innovation, experimentation, and investment
    • A high degree of comfort with ambiguity in early-phase investigative projects
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams
    • Professional judgment and discretion
    • Ability to protect highly confidential information
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
