    Position Summary

    The Superintendent oversees all phases of a construction project in multiple sites, coordinating with foremen and crew leaders as the main contact for project managers and site foremen. This individual drives production, staff crews, scale jobs, prioritizes tasks across sites, and is responsible for the timely completion of assigned operations. With a deep understanding of various trades and vast experience in dry utility installation, the Superintendent ensures continuous workflow, maintains customer relations, and upholds safety practices. Strong leadership and organizational skills enable quick decision-making and effective direction of teams.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Interviews and employs site workers

    • Supervises all construction activities and ensures compliance with all design and budget specifications and develops and maintains effective relationships with all subcontractors and suppliers

    • Monitors budget throughout the project and communicate variances as they occur

    • Assists and represents Benchmark at various onsite meetings and maintains documentation for all construction schedules and maintains logs of all processes

    • Collaborates and schedules the work activities of tradespeople and laborers, communicating to and via project foremen to deliver instructions and project assignments as appropriate, approving timecards and requests for time off

    • Assists in all special projects and performs on site visits to ensure compliance with all project specifications, regulations, and guidelines

    • Supervises and obtains permit and licenses process and provides efficient support to project managers in executing construction contracts according to terms of agreement

    • Executes construction contracts according to terms of agreement

    • Inspects work for quality and timeliness

    • Communicates and enforces safety procedures and site rules by ensuring all resources assigned are maintained, protected, secured and used at optimum efficiency

    • Communicates and ensures compliance with all health and safety procedures and provide support to estimators on all project requirements, while maintaining quality control and profitability of the project

    • Creates manuals and guidelines for construction processes and update as per requirement and determine efficient assessment systems for all construction procedures

    • Provides training to employees and prepares and provides progress/challenges/achievements reports for all project metrics and monitor progress of all construction projects

    • Provides support for all team members and designs and implements an effective continuous improvement plan for all projects and provides feedback to all team members

    • Meets Financial, schedule, and quality benchmarks as clients

    • Resolves conflicts and addresses concerns raised by subcontractors or site staff with mark ups and communication

    • Collaborates with project teams to forecast short- and long-term construction activities, answers inquiries, clarifies procedures, identifies potential challenges, and ensures timely procurement of materials and resources

    • Takes site photographs throughout the project and upload them to support platforms

    • Performs walkthroughs consistently throughout the project to ensure quality meets client needs

    • Detects potential financial impacts and scope changes, communicating them effectively to the project team before they impact the project timeline

    • Supports the project manager in making informed decisions and assist estimators and engineers during the pursuit of new work

    • Ensures foreman are filling out daily paperwork and turning in on time every day

    • Must work well with other team members and share resources as needed

    • Performs other duties, as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of a high school diploma

    • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field

    • Five (5) year clean DMV report required for driving company vehicles

    • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

    • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in dry utility installation, experience as a Superintendent or equivalent

    • Leadership skills with experience in employee training, team support, and providing constructive feedback

    • Ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines

    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and ensuring accurate implementation on-site

    • Demonstrated success in managing budgets and schedules in alignment with project requirements as well as overseeing a variety of people in different roles

    • Good verbal and written communication skills

    • Ability to work under pressure

    • Extremely detail-oriented

    Preferred Qualifications

    • CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30 Safety Certification

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, walk, and move around active construction sites for extended periods of time to oversee operations and conduct inspections

    • Capability to climb ladders/scaffolding and navigate uneven or rough terrain as needed for site assessments

    • Strength to lift and carry materials, tools, or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

    • Manual dexterity to operate tools, machinery, and equipment when demonstrating tasks

    • Stamina to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, or rain

    • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch frequently to inspect work areas or access confined spaces

    • Visual acuity to read blueprints, inspect work, and identify potential safety hazards

    • Hearing ability to communicate effectively on-site, including in noisy environments and respond to safety signals or alarms
